1. Great game by 2 quality teams. Both teams played hard, but Marquette did seem to have a slight edge in the 'hunger factor' last night. UConn definitely has more talent, but Marquette just seemed to come out a little quicker and more confident and focused than we did. While the outcome of the game could have gone either way, Marquette absolutely deserved that win. Again, great effort by both teams though. It was a very entertaining game. Feel bad for our boys... With just a little luck UConn could have pulled that one out. We gave up too many clean looks from 3, but Marquette hit some VERY tough shots too.
2. Boy, Newton gets hacked a lot when he drives and rarely gets a whistle.
3. Sanogo is a force offensively, and has really come a long way with respect to holding his ground and not going for pump fakes on defense, but man, he has so much to learn when it comes to knowing when to provide help on dribble drives and when not to leave his man. Too often guys drive right by him and he does absolutely nothing or he laves his man and then doesn't recover in time. Someone should also tell him it's not against the rules to raise his hands on defense.
4. Joey C's specialty is obviously the 3 ball, but I thought that one later in the 2nd half where he pulled up for a transition 3 instead of continuing the break 3 on 1 was a bad decision.
5. Marquette is a tough match up for Hawkins. He was clearly frustrated last night by their hounding defense. Really wish they had run more double screen sets to try to free him up more. His shot seems like it has been a little off the past few games. Everyone has bad nights so I can't be too critical of him for last night, but he really needs to work on his driving more to be successful at the next level. There are a lot of quick, 6'8" defenders in the NBA. Hopefully, his confidence isn't wavering.
6. Andre really needs to realize how important his presence on the floor is to this team and not pick up silly fouls in the back court.
7. Alleyne has been outstanding the last 4-5 games.
8. Marquette had 3 guys with 4 fouls with like 8 minutes to go and not one of the fouled out.
9. Let's hope the guys remember this feeling and use it as motivation going forward.

Good synopsis. Doesn’t fit the simplistic mentality of some posters
