Lot's of speculation that Mizzou will join SEC. With all due respect to Mizzou, why would SEC want them? The geographic fit is marginal at best. Mizzou would be mid tier in both BB and FB. The KC market is shared with KU. Mizzou probably has a fair share of the St Louis market but not sure how big the COLLEGIATE market is in St Louis.

Guess it's to expand with the basic concept of going to 16 teams in the long run.

Scheduling with 13 is a nightmare. They need a 14th, and Mizzou makes as much sense as anyone else.

It's the same approach the ACC took with the BC invite.

It's a good athletic program and they are a warm body to get to 14.

I haven't been there, but my understanding is that a significant part of missouri is culturally southern, for example southern baptists and other evangelicals have a large presence.
