2026 Recruiting: Question for recruiting experts

Will be interesting to see what Hurley targets to compliment Reibe. After these last few years, my sense is we need bigs that can play above the rim. While I like Tarris, and Adama, I don't sense the stout low post variety is really what makes sense for this system. We lose a lot of optionality on the cuts to the rim for lobs with that profile, which has always worked so well and spaced the floor differently.

One thing about Tarris is that he doesn't feel like a really big target in the post.

He's Australian, going to play NBL and hope to get the NBA, though he does have some offers for college right now.

Looks like he can play but he's still putting on weight

I imagine we're getting a Tarris/Adama type of big from the portal. Hurley has always wanted complementary bigs with Adama/Clingan, Clingan/Johnson, Johnson/Reed, and now Reed/Reibe

There’s two 7’s originally from Mass in this upcoming class and another one from Jersey that I hope we get in on.

One of them is a Brimah type. The other two have more size to them on the Reed side of things.

We'll see - issue with Reibe is he's not really a rim protecting rim runnner in the current. Maybe that changes with some physical development. He's got great touch and can stretch the floor.

I think this year will be interesting to watch in terms of what Hurley can do with a team with not a lot of athletes. Especially if they go up against some of the teams out there this year that do and don't get through the in the tourney (UM/AZ/Houston). Morez/Yaxel is a super athletic twosome. After watching UM/MSt, continue to think that UM's A game is the better of the two, especially now with McKenney getting majority minutes at the 2.

I don't think it's gonna be a HS recruit replacing Tarris, we'd already be recruiting them if that was the case

I probably missed it, but do we have a 2027 recruiting board?

Ah, you're talking 2027, that makes sense. That I agree with us bringing in a good freshman.

There's a filter here for everyone we've reached out to

I would love for Meka to come in work with Reibe over next summer. Reibe has some ability, but you can tell it's just hasn't been asked of him and his size alone was probably enough of a deterrent. He needs to be more aggressive at times.
His footwork and agility are impressive, especially around the rim. Still would like to see the 3pt shot be a weapon.

There is a Rrezon we have a backup for Reibe.

Ahhh there we go. Did not know how to get to or use this. Lol

This was one of the 7’s I was talking about in the Mass area that can be Brimah like. Super raw but we saw what Brimah was able to do being even rawer.

It will be a transfer. What are the names of these two 7 footers who are originally from Mass?

I realize the post sounds like I’m referring to ‘26 and not ‘27.

One you posted about I linked in this thread.

The other is this guy who is Crystal balled to Maryland currently.

7’ might be an exaggeration with him. One last interesting center prospect from Mass, too.

I think we will look for a Jr portal guy to bridge gap. We’ve done that now with Aidan, Tarris, and Silas. Then you go after really good freshman at that position who backup/compete and then takeover.

This is the next seven-footer I want in Storrs. David Musis. Plays for Israel’s FIBA U18 team, and getting attention from U.S. colleges. Very mobile and consistently strokes it from 3. Would thrive in UConn’s offense. Yes please. And for those with a 30-year memory, I can assure you this kid is NOT the 2026 version of Uri Cohen-Mintz.

An athlete who is a junkyard dog rebounder and shot blocker. I don’t care if they’d shoot the 3. Are they strong enough to screen, hold position down low and make layups?

While we're throwing out ideas, this kid seems to fit the above criteria. Uncommitted 2026 from DC area. Is about Reibe's size, doesn't quite have the same touch/fluidity, but he's more athletic. Might be too much of a project, but his rebounding numbers are around 16-17/game. Not sure if that's a product of the competition or if he's the type of dog Hurley would like

With the portal options being what they are, there's no way we take on a project to be our backup 5. Backup to the backup? Sure. But I fully expect us to find a Jr. big man from somewhere to backup and be good enough to man the 5, if needed, the following year. See Reed, Tarris.

Hopefully you have Nadav and Doron speaking with this young man, informing him of what a great place Storrs is for Israeli basketball players.
