with 18 secs. left, or did the officials stop play because of some issue with the clock? if uconn did call a timeout, why?

actually, the play-by-play says that it was a uconn team timeout, and a recap says the same thing. shot clock did not have to reset , since only 18 secs left. so, why a timeout at that point? rebeccca lobo could not believe the stoppage in play, for whatever the reason .

Kelly missed a layup with 25 secs on the game clock and 17 seconds on the shot clock. The shot hit the rim and she grabbed the rebound but the shot clock did not reset so play was stopped. The refs then took a few minutes to discuss and look at the monitor and then ruled that the shot clock should have been reset and UConn was given possession on the sideline. UConn then took a timeout.

Then UConn did call timeout. Geno said he would have not called timeout. He wanted to play it out, tie game, UConn momentum, home court. But when the refs blew it did he felt he'd better call timeout after.

Dish, I agree. He called the timeout after the clock issue was resolved - although I think we still lost 1.9 seconds due to poor clock stoppage that was not put back on - it did not appear that they were charged that time out based on the telecast - should they have had two left or just one? Either way it didn't matter as neither one was used.

And Geno said when Stewart didn't shoot or drive, he probably should have called time out again.
