Have read several comments that Stewie was getting the living you-know-what beat out of her in the lane. Is this true? If so, what the hell is wrong with the refs allowing this sort of thing while the guards keep getting hit with touch fouls?

The rules with the guards have been changed in such a way that it makes violations easier to identify. Did the defender touch the player with the ball twice is an easily identifiable and objective question to answer. Did the defender push the post player "hard" is subjective and much more difficult to identify.

Didn't you see Stef argue with the ref on Stewie's behalf last nite? Was classic.

I do not remember the language of the original rules of emphasis, but was "pushing hard" part of the definition of not impeding the offensive player?

The NBA superstars get hammered away from the ball on every play. The refs will tell you that's why they let them get away with 4-5 steps in their "NBA continuation" - they earned it. DT used to get black & blue in a competitive game

Players will hit Stewie as long as the refs allow it.

Stewie was getting pushed around, elbowed and generally smacked around but it was much worse on Stefanie. She went over to the ref one time and you could tell she was asking what the heck was going on. She was obviously agitated at the rough play.

When Moriah had her blocked shot, recovered the ball and drove the court for the lay-up she got fouled real hard. I though a flagrant should have been called but nothing. Not sure what anyone else thought. But I will say one thing about Moriah, she is one tough little cookie. She was getting really roughed up following Williams around, going through picks, and through the paint with all the bigs. Nothing dirty, just a lot of contact, and she never slowed down or complained.

Nothing new; don't you remember the beating DT use to take as she tried to make a cut or simply move. Common tactic used against the best player on the court.

Of course, against UConn, you first have to identify who IS the best player on the court. Not always easy.

Re-watching the call where Stewie got lowbridged but called for the foul but worse yet was at 4:45 1st half when she tried to cut across the lane she was hit by 2 players and yet she got called for the foul. Teams will keep doing this as long as they can get away with it because they do not have anyone who cqan guard her that close to the basket
