So with Paige and Azziz coming off injuries and Piath having surgery. What will Uconn be ranked on Day 1?.
 If anything Piath surgery definitely moves them out of the number 1 spot as both Azzi and Paige are expected to be ready by the start of the season.

Isn't Saylor sidelined? isn't Nika nicked up? isn't Beuckers booted? Azzi's ankle twisted? Gabriel's gut being operated on? Oh boy!

At Stanford Haley Jones will take over the point from Kiana and Ashton Prechtel will move into the starting five along with Cameron Brink, Lexi Hull, and Anna Wilson. They'll be back- to-back champs in 2022.

In the word of Denny Green "If you want to crown them then crowns their (deleted word).... Haley Jones led Stanford in TO last year by a pretty wide margin. Ya got a Plan B?

That's why they play the games. Nothing is given, and UConn and SC are loaded.

Haley Jones was the MVP of the NCAA Tournament and had 11 turnovers in their first five games of the tournament - which was the same number of turnovers that Paige had.

1. Stanford (defending tour. champs)
2. UConn (beat No 3)
3. SCar (lost to No.2

Since I doubt Tara will schedule a worthy opponent prior to Jan 1 we can assume that Stan will remain on top at least until then. Teams don't generally go down unless they lose.
If nothing else it should provide the board with and endless thread or two.

Good luck with that.
I'll take our Huskies in the match up with our additions of Dorka, Azzi & crew. While I don't want to minimize the "crews" contributions, with Dorka's inside efforts to reinforce what we already had, and another outside shooter (some have said Curry's equal) in Azzi...I like our chances against anybody. But, would agree that Stanford will be the our toughest out.

I don’t think so! Stanford, while talented, is no ones idea of an unbeatable juggernaut! They were extremely fortunate in the final four last year, winning both games because of missed shots at the end of the game. Credit to them but let’s face it, they are not a dominant team that is likely to roll through this year undefeated. Sure, they could win again but Imo, UConn and SC are both more likely champions than Stanford.

Question spawned by this remark.

What lowest initially ranked team finished season ranked #1 and what is the lowest final ranking team of a team which opened #1

Champs NonTop 5 Preseason

2018: # 6 Notre Dame
2011: # 8 TAMU
2006:#14 Maryland
2005: # 8 Baylor
2001: # 6 Notre Dame
1996: # 6 Tenn

1994: # 9 UNC
1993:#15 Texas Tech
1992: # 7 Stanford
1991: # 6 Tenn
[aiaw:]
1979: # 6 ODU

In 2006 UNC was 7th in the preseason poll and finished at No 1.

Rankings and ncaa tournament titles are different. In 2008 UConn ended up No 1. Then they lost in the FF.

I think the question should be - Name the NCAA tournament champion that was ranked lowest in the AP preseason poll before the season?
