Question about Casey Cochran's left knee

I noticed in the picture the Courant ran in the article Jacobs wrote about Casey Cochran he had a knee brace on his left knee. Just watching the Masuk Hand game on live feed I noticed he had a similiar brace on again. Does anybody know if he had a previous left knee injury, or is this brace a preventative measure to prevent an injury like Carson Palmer suffered?

He was injured last season in the championship game with New Canaan with about 5 minutes remaining. I don't think it was anything significant and I've never heard it was an issue, so I would have to believe it's preventative.

That's what I thought when I saw it tonight.

That injury was to his ankle IIRC, I don't think it has anything to do with the brace.
