QB Joe Fagnano > Baltimore Ravens Mini-Camp

I am sure skipping the bowl game and deserting his teammates positioned him well for this opportunity /s

Ok…I appreciate everything JF did for this team but I am still bitter about his decision to let UConn get destroyed in the bowl game. I wish him well…but I am still bitter.

Really wish he had gotten drafted. Thought he would definitely get picked up by at least the 7th round. As the draft went on and Nussmeier was still available in the late 7th i didn't see it happening.

Hope you kill it in minicamp and make the team Joe!

With NIL the bowl scenario has changed forever. Basically it’s ruined. Don’t blame Joe

Best of luck moving forward. Doesn't matter how you get to camp, just that you get there.

Midway thrkugh 2025 season I'd have laughed at anyone suggesting Joe would even get a sniff at the NFL. His improvement was great for UConn football and for himself. Thanks and congrats.

Something has to be done about this, agents are bad for the sport and ultimately it's not good for players development and career and the sport in the in the long run. I'm not talking about the Christian Mcaffreys of the world here sitting out bowl games.

We see how watered down the nfl has become. Players voluntarily sitting out bowl games certainly doesn't help.

Yeah I’m so sure but having tape against Army tanked his chances.

Get over it.

Getting drafted is just not Joe's style. It would not surprise me to see him go to mini camp, turn some heads, get a roster spot, sit on the bench, get thrown around the league, and a few years later end up as a starting QB in the NFL. That would not surprise me in the slightest.

I can see him on the bench in favor of a over-hyped draft pick who gets injured a ton. Joe gets subbed in and everything looks better but keeps losing out because he's being paid less.

IMHO, the bowl would have helped both Skyler and Joe. How much does this player love football? That is an important question at the combine. It enhances your reputation as a dog. While others are playing the strategic game, you're playing football. Neither of these guys should have handled the bowl the way that top 20 picks did.

not sure why you are such a JF fanboy…but I didn’t say playing against Army would have helped his chances. I don’t think it mattered either way. He was always going to be an UDFA. My point was a true leader…who was going to be undrafted anyway…doesn’t play the “I’m too good to play the bowl game” card. He didn’t even stand on the sidelines or faux play like Bell. He totally ghosted the team.

I appreciate what he did for the team, but didn’t like how it ended.

Bowl games will go away before forcing players to play in bowl games.

Probably has something to do with all the wins, TDs and offense. Plus he was the best QB we’ve had since Dan Orlovsky.

No one's forcing anyone to play just saying in general it's not good for the sport. Theres gotta be some bonus in the contract to play in the bowl game.

People who say well the bowl game is some glorified exhibition they aren't seeing the bigger picture. The next step is guys sitting out the last week of the regular season or a CFP game yes I know it's far fetched but when society becomes accepting of players voluntarily sitting out bowl games and that becomes normalized, then it makes it possible for the next step.

Unless Joe was banged up and wanted to get to 100% for when he was about to put himself in front of every team at the Shrine Bowl.

Still spinning that excuse I see.

First of all…there is no proof that he was injured…just a rumor probably started by his agent to get him out of the bowl game.

Second…so..getting over this supposed injury and playing in the Shrine Bowl got him what exactly? A UDFA offer the same as he was projected before the bowl game.

Third…did his injury preclude him from standing on the sidelines?

Let’s face it…he just didn’t want to go to a bowl he went to the year before. He didn’t want to go to a bowl without his head coach. He was done with UConn after the FAU game.

That’s fine….I will still always be thankful for him delivering a great season (just like I am appreciative for what Mora did)…I just think it was a crappy way for him to end the season.

Bell was obviously getting drafted, and as opposed to JF, he at least made an appearance to support his teammates.

Tim Boyle stuck in the NFL for awhile, but Diaco didn't know what to do with him. So, we'll never know what he could've done here. But certainly JF was the best in terms of performance.

I blame Joe for not standing up for the O line that protected him all year in a obvious loosing bowl situation without him. NIL money should be payed out 1/3% at seasons start and the rest when a player is healthy and available at the seasons conclusion. Sit out the bowl forfeit the other 2/3%.
The new world order is for sure changing the mind set of decades of older fans.
(Hear Be True To Your School in the background) Beach boys.
Bryun Parham not a sniff even as a udfa?

Unfortunately, that would just result in many more Skyler Bell bowl performances. Show up for one play, get your NIL $, and sit the rest of the game. Doesn't solve it unfortunately, and is actually worse in my mind. Either play for your team or sit out.

I seriously doubt there's a single NFL GM or coach who really cares if a potential draftee sits out a minor bowl game. Especially one against a non-P4. If UConn was playing a bowl game vs an SEC or B1G team, maybe teams might care about not having film. But not vs Army in the Fenway Bowl. I'd even suggest that unless a team is in the playoff, it's probably not a big deal to skip out.

With Fagnano, I think it's more about him being a completed product with no projectability. High floor, low ceiling. That's a clipboard holder or practice squad guy who's going to have to work his butt off to get noticed. While I personally think Joe has intangibles that would put him ahead of several of the QBs who were drafted, I can't discount my fandom bias leading to that impression. I also think Joe's makeup gives him an advantage over Pavia in a competition for 3rd string job as I doubt Pavia would be happy settling for that.

It's really hard to get drafted as a QB as only 10 to 12 QBs get drafted each season. I think not getting drafted helps a QB like Joe as he can pick a team in which he sees a path to sticking. Kind of surprised that the Ravens are bringing in Pavia as well which may or may not have impacted Joe's decision to join the Ravens if he had know that.

Remove meaningless bowl games. Its pre-season at the end of the year...

Who cares about the Hefty Garbage Bag Fenway Bowl anyways...
