It's notable that she said that she's majoring in sociology & not sign language.
Also she was asked:

Q: Why Maryland?

AD: I always had a relationship with Maryland back from high school. I got recruited by Brenda and the rest of the staff so I kind of had a feel of what the vibe was here and once I finally took my official visit to the portal, I really felt like they are like a family. Family-first attitude, they care about the whole player, not just the basketball side of things, and that's really important to me.

She also said that she's focusing on playing basketball after college.

I hope that the transfer to Maryland operates as a reset for Amari, and that she is able to achieve success there.

She needs to play with more urgency, purpose and confidence. Maybe the change of scenery will help.

Meh..I feel some type of way about her comment about family first, as if uconn is not centered around family first. It's ok to say that where you were before was too hard to meet expectations. And I'm a big Amari fan.

I don't have a problem with any of her answers. Remember, it's a Maryland player giving a Maryland interview. I did like her best memory being a UConn memory. All the best Amari.

Amari was the ideal teammate. Always seemed to have a smile on her face and very supportive in her limited role. If she complained about anything, to my knowledge it was not made public. I believe she realized that no matter what she did or didn't do, things here at UConn, being surrounded my superior talent (my opinion), were never going to change. To her outstanding credit as a person, she took it all in stride and made the best of it. I wish her the very best at Maryland, in her future basketball endeavors, and in life going forward. Again, she was the ideal teammate while a Husky.

Many people said the same thing about Liv, that she wasn't aggressive enough and didn't try to score enough which was offen true.
But for some reason, she came alive in the WNBA and took on a whole new personna & playing style.
I don't know what brought about the change.
Perhaps it's about an individual's personal growth & maturity process or maybe something in the water.

I didn't read it that way. I took it as of all of the schools she was considering transferring to, Maryland felt the most like a family-first kind of place.

Some of what you've said could be true, but none of us really know what she did or didn't do in practices. Regardless, I was trying to be kind in wishing her well in the future. Continuing to rank on her perceived lack of effort is uncalled for now. She's move on, so should we.
