Measuring what are known as 'executive functions', which reflect the cognitive ability to deal with sudden problems, may make it possible to predict how good an elite football player will become in the future. This has been shown by a new study from Karolinska Institutet. Scientists believe for the first time that they have found the scientific key to what has previously been described as 'game intelligence' in successful football players.

I haven't opened the link yet, but if it's what I think it is - it's a soccer article. Saw it last week!! Let's see....

Yup.

That's the other football, but it's a cool article. Same priniciples apply. Best players have great, great peripheral vision and can interpret and anticipate many things happening in space, before they happen based on things they've seen before. The movement or placement of a hand, or foot, or head motion seen out the corner of the eye, and what your brain makes your body do with that information.

The real neat question is whether or not it can be practiced or trained, or is it just there.
