Kids don't want to commit to a school that has a coaching vacancy before they step on campus. Quite frankly it has a huge affect. This isn't football where people commit to the program. They commit to a coaching staff more often than not.
That makes sense I guess. I just figured that it wouldn't be that much of an impact. After all we already got 2 kids who came under Calhoun I think and decided to honor it with Ollie was named.

These kids won't be here until next year. Why is APR an issue?
IDK...more pressure to do well in school? They can go other places and not worry about graduating on time? Or they are worried that current players will hurt the APR thus furthering the APR sanctions.

Huh? Graduation has nothing to do with apr. current players have almost perfect score.

I'm not sure where husky99 was going but I think he means the administration is being more stringent with recruits in regards to academics due to the APR issues, maybe higher standards are in place. Based on Jordan Bell's quotes he was blocked from visiting because he hadn't taken the SATs.

That's an NCAA rule, not a UCONN rule

Yup 100% what i am saying... standards are above and beyond ncaa standards..

Heard staff visited austin sunday before germany trip

Well then the excuse must be bogus then since he visited Oregon.

Was Oregon an official? If so, then either UConn has increased upon the NCAA's standard, thus curtailing recruiting, or it's bogus.

Good question, he went to a football game and everything so I'm assuming that's an official visit. You don't usually go through all of that on unofficials.

It was eiter unofficial or an ncaa violation.

The rumor is the AD can sign off on psat score. Do not believe it is true, but tht is what duck fans are saying

That does seem to be the case in the past, don't know current rules, but assume it's true. Of course he can't sign until he passes SAT/ACT.

Therefore, if Herbst is requiring a SAT/ACT score that could be handicapping Ollie.

According to Scout, BA's AAU coach said there should be a decision in the next couple weeks. Sounds like he wants to sign early.

What is a "passing SAT score"??? Doesn't the NCAA use a sliding score based on their final GPA??? I believe all the recruit has to do is TAKE the SAT and they can go on official visits.

Saw on twitter he was committing on Monday.

Mine was in reference to Brandon Austin. You talking about him or Jordan Bell?

He is now officially down to three. UConn, Providence, Texas in no order.

If BA watched last nights victory how could he possibly consider another school? I would take out a student loan to play for Kevin Ollie

@GavinKeefe: #PC and #UConn are finalists for highly-regarded recruit Brandon Austin, a 6-5 guard.
