Protesting Peacock

I’ve decided to NOT purchase Peacock as my singular protest to the new Big East media deal. As I AM noted for frequently beating my head against the wall, I was curious if any other Boneyarders had made this decision as well. My provider is DirecTV, whom I adore, but with all the extra sports packages I’ve added (no movies !) my monthly bill is $281. So that’s my story and I’m sticking to it. Anyone else wacky like me out there ??
Have you ever estimated your cost per viewing hour?

Much agonizing going on here. My wife and I are going to dinner tonight. My bill will be $80+.
If 14 UCONN Peacock games (men & women) are not worth more than a good dinner to you, I would be very surprised.

I am also on Direct tv and am crushed by the loss of SNY coverage. I live in LA. My strategy is to buy for one month ( to catch a game ) Peacock or that thing we have to buy when they play in the Caribbean in December. Then I cancel the service. It is still expensive, but not more, probably, than a ticket to the game.

.-.
For a cost of $16.99 per month for Peacock Premium Plus, which is the retail rate for that same product directly from Peacock.

You don't need the Premium Plus product to watch UConn games; the less expensive Premium product suffices. The retail rate for that is $10.99 per month from Peacock.

Members on the men's board are reporting that they have signed up for a Peacock seven day free trial here . . .

. . . then cancelled the plan the next day, and immediately got a pop-up box offering a promotional $2.99 per month plan for six months.
Thank you for this tip.

It worked for me.

Xfinity/Comcast offers a package deal (Netflix, Peacock, AppleTV) for $15 a month. I added that during baseball season, and am keeping it now for obvious reasons. I hardly ever watch AppleTV, but Netflix and Peacock have a lot of good shows if you're interested in non-sports.

For us non Peacock protesters who are looking for Sunday's game to appear on the app, it appears that Peacock does announce their weekly schedule online. Their week runs from Thursday to Wednesday.
So maybe, just maybe, our game will be on the app's schedule no later than Thursday, the 13th. Fingers crossed.

I decided not to get it either unless they offer a special like they did last year, so far nothing. I listen to the games on the Varsity Network app that I downloaded on my phone and iPad.
I believe I picked mine up right around now so keep an eye out.

The Ohio State game on Nov. 16 is now showing on my Peacock upcoming games schedule.

Well, that's an interesting way of looking at it. Maybe I should start thinking in terms of "relative" cost. Then again, if you continue to rationalize "that isn't so bad" often enough you are probably being ripped off big time.

As I see it:
1- cut the cord. no more comcast, directv, etc
I use those Apple Boxes. Firesticks, built into the new TVs.
2- choose a provider that gets you basic stuff, like local news (or don't)
I have used Fubo and Hulu. I like Hulu better, as they have their own shows too
3- pick a la carte everything else. netflix, prime video, paramount, etc
I'm a bad example, since I have almost everything ($200 a month or so)
Peacock for me is $2.99 a month.
4- remember- threaten to quit and they'll lower your rates.
I know its hard to give up all those channels you never look at (for me- cooking shows) but Cut the Cord. Last night, 1st time in forever I couldn't find a game- Marquette- Minnesota. Seems there's a Big Ten Network +. Nothing's perfect!

Correct, there's a standalone B1G+ network that streams Big Ten events not televised anywhere else. In order to subscribe, you don't need a TV provider.

Bingo, just added it. Thanks for that.
Looks like a lot of full game replays.

Just got Peacock Premium for the $49 a year.... Seems like a good deal.... I signed up, quick and easy....

....................

.-.
Standard Peacock at 7.99 a month does not include live sports events
Premium at 10.99 a month does
The 2026 BIG EAST Tournament is March 6-9, 2026 ... and all the games are on Peacock .... at $10.99 per month, you might be able to get all the 7 regular season games and the tournament games with just three months subscription ... That would be a good deal for sure......!!

Tomorrow is our first game on Peacock. Having Peacock added to the UConn schedule didn't bother me as I already was signed up the app. One of the reasons I got Peacock is because my wife and I loved "Poker Face", which I found out yesterday was cancelled. LOL
Anyway, when the games are on regular stations, I always have it set to record, just putting it in "My Stuff" and it will automatically record every game. Since I will be at the game on Sunday I was wondering if I could record it on Peacock. When I brought up the game, I noticed that they also had a "My Stuff", actually asking if I wanted to record. Yes, yes, I do. So, for those who added Peacock to watch the games, you also can record them there to rewatch at a later date. AHH, feel better now.

I get it with my Spectrum plan. The game vs OSU is on early here. I'd record it but you can't do that with this app. They do offer replays but not sure how long it takes to post them.

You should Google Peacock's Native Features and read what it does. It doesn't appear that Peacock actually records the games, it looks like you'll need to use replay when available.

I have been a Peacock subscriber for over a year now but I really don't enjoy their viewer experience. Why? Because as of today, I can't find the UConn WBB game on the 16th. I do see other Big East games, including the Huskie men, that are scheduled in November and December, but no UConn women's. 😡
I think the women are only available on Peacock streaming. Not certain because I don't have Peacock tv. But I am forced to watch tomorrow's game v OSU on laptop. Sadly several of our best out of conference games are owned by Peacock. so your boycott will cause you to miss several games. Can you catch them on replay? If so, where?

I am not boycotting/protesting Peacock tv as I stated earlier that I have subscribed to their streaming service waaaay before they got their Big East basketball media rights.
As of today, I have never had to watch any UConn WBB games on anything other than my Smart TVs.
Tomorrow should be no different as I have the app downloaded to my TV, Xbox Series S and Roku. So...
Peacock streaming does have game replays but I have no idea for how long.

My son is an Amazon Prime member and gets a steep discount for Peacock with unlimited hook ups. He's going to add it to my Firefox on Saturday so I can watch the UConn games.
Can he hook all of us up? Just kidding.

You don't need a subscription for Peacock in order watch the game on a laptop? What about using a browser on a smart TV? I have used a TV browser to watch replays on the UConn games website but that's about it.
I was not aware that this would be possible.

Teacher, Military, and Students can get Peacock for $3.99 a month at ID.ME,com
They will give you a coupon code to sign up. This deal includes Peacock Sports.
