I’ve decided to NOT purchase Peacock as my singular protest to the new Big East media deal. As I AM noted for frequently beating my head against the wall, I was curious if any other Boneyarders had made this decision as well. My provider is DirecTV, whom I adore, but with all the extra sports packages I’ve added (no movies !) my monthly bill is $281. So that’s my story and I’m sticking to it. Anyone else wacky like me out there ??

I have been a Peacock subscriber for over a year now but I really don't enjoy their viewer experience. Why? Because as of today, I can't find the UConn WBB game on the 16th. I do see other Big East games, including the Huskie men, that are scheduled in November and December, but no UConn women's. 😡

Spectrum for $55 a month at 1Gps.
Been using IPTV apps and service (that carries SNY) now up to $150 a year. Paid just under $150 in 2020 for a media device ( Nvidia Shield Pro) 250 Gb attached storage.

Might go with a cheaperIPTV service since I no longer need SNY.

This year we had to get peacock for $49.99 for a year.

In the past we’ve had to get flohoops for a month

I may change my mind but as of now I'm not inclined to subscribe to Peacock. It is only a couple of games I'll miss. The trend is to scatter more and more programing among more and more subscription sites. It may be the model that works the best as a business decision but I personally hate it. I pay Spectrum and Roku, and have Amazon plus because my son insisted. Enough, no more...no more.

I subscribed to get the Tour de France, and the ability to get several UConn games factored into that decision. (I posted a few days ago that I didn't get the upgrade to sports, but checked a few hours ago, and it turns out I did.) Like you, I'm finding many Men's Big East games, but no women's. I'm hoping it will change in a week.

I have Spectrum, $270/month.
Including, WIFI Internet, Phone and Cable TV everything.
Cable TV streaming apps including: Disney+ Basic (includes UConn+, ESPN+), Paramount+ Essential, ViX Premium, HBO, Max Basic With Ads, AMC+ with Ads and Peacock Premium with Ads.

For the 2025-26 season, Peacock is scheduled to stream seven UConn women's games in the regular season and the entire Big East tournament. So, that should be a total of 10 UConn women's games.

I also don't see any of those women's games yet scheduled.

I apparently signed up for a promotional Peacock Premium annual plan (with ads) at $29.99 on Feb. 5, 2025, which expires on Feb. 5, 2026. That would cover five of the UConn games. Right now, if I sign up to extend that plan for another year, it would cost $109.99 on an annual basis.

According to AI, Peacock historically has offered promotional monthly (~$2) and annual (~$20) plans around the Black Friday to Christmas period. I have time to wait for those, and if they appear and I'm eligible, I'll sign up.

Ohio State is the only UConn women's game scheduled on Peacock before Black Friday/Cyber Monday.

I am also protesting by not opening my wallet any further.

I am hoping that eventually our property will be serviced by Spectrum - our county successfully got an infrastructure grant and they selected Spectrum to provide access to all households in the county, but there's one major caveat - they aren't required to provide service to those living on private roads, which is my situation. Spectrum said they'd consider it if everyone on the private road requests service, and we have done this, but they aren't obligated.

Ironically, we have a higher density of homes on our private road (5 homes in .8 mile) then exists on the public road, which has less than one home per mile. Common sense says they would get a higher rate of return providing service to us but I don't work in the industry and perhaps there are other factors that go into their decision making. We watched hopefully this summer as they installed the cable down the public road, ironically parking their vehicles on our private road.

Until then, we will continue to utilize Starlink.

Yes, if you subscribe to certain levels of Spectrum's packages. I subscribe to a minimal and less expensive Spectrum package, so I don't get Peacock, although I do get the jambalaya of other channels that UConn games are spread across (ESPN1, ESPN2, Fox, FS1, TruTV, TNT).

I have to subscribe to Peacock separately and, as I've reported above, have done so at a promotional rate that is much less than the cost of the Spectrum packages that include Peacock.

Alternatively, I get Peacock or Paramount+ free with my Walmart+ subscription for $98 per year. (Walmart+ is Walmart's free delivery and extra benefits competition for Amazon Prime.) And you can switch between Peacock and Paramount+ every 90 days. Come to think of it, maybe that's what I'll do in February when my promotional Peacock plan expires: switch from Paramount+ to Peacock on Walmart+ for free.

I'll have to check and see if my plan does include Peacock, which would be nice. If not, maybe if I can get Peacock at a cheapie rate I'll go for it. But money isn't the point, I can afford it. It is just a pain to be subscribing to a bunch of providers that I'd only watch a limited amount of content on. What I have has more than enough things available to watch than I need. We'll see.

If one subscribes to Amazon Prime, Peacock can be added rather inexpensively.

For a cost of $16.99 per month for Peacock Premium Plus, which is the retail rate for that same product directly from Peacock.

You don't need the Premium Plus product to watch UConn games; the less expensive Premium product suffices. The retail rate for that is $10.99 per month from Peacock.

Members on the men's board are reporting that they have signed up for a Peacock seven day free trial here . . .

. . . then cancelled the plan the next day, and immediately got a pop-up box offering a promotional $2.99 per month plan for six months.

Cycling and the Olympic sports coverage does make it worthwhile for me. We will see how worthwhile, though, when they aren't offering a discount.

Do they know you are protesting?

Pray tell - - How ? My wife is a men’s fan, she worked with Jim Calhoun his first three years at UConn, and she is NOT pleased with my decision !! 😳😱🫣✌️

couldn't agree more- wish they would have stuck with SNY but the buck always talks. Haven't missed a UConn game in years but I won't support Peacock

I might pay some kid to do a Seinfeld, where they sit in the stands and FaceTime the game to me. Yeah, I know, illegal, not actually going to do it. But, then again...

FWIW I am a Army Veteran and Peacock is offering military discounts for their service. I paid $3.99 plus tax for my subscription.
