Although I routinely shout at my TV for Andre to go get in there and try to rebound, I found that he pretty much neutralized Melvin all by himself. Melvin was afraid to even try to shoot the ball inside the 3 point line. Reminded me of some of the good times watching Hasheem on defense.

I also loved the start of the game when Alex got position, moved the defender out of the way and got the offensive rebound and scored. I think he could do a lot more of that if the light bulb goes on and stays on as far as his focusing on getting to the spot to get position on the boards. Ditto for Andre.

I wasn't really paying attention during the game...my jaw hit the floor when I heard after that he was covering Melvin. Major props to Andre. He's a little mean streak away from being a terrific player.

My favorite quote from the chat room was the guy who was "sick of all this ally-oop , just shoot the damn ball!"

he's a terrific player and he does have mean streak, even though it hasn't really come out.....what he really needs is sustained focus/tenacity

He should be dunking everything........lose the turnaround fadeaway jumper from his chin and just get the shoulder in and dunk, jump hook or lay it in. When he wants he can be a man.....hate seeing him give in to a defender at all!!!

Based on his defensive effort against Melvin I hope he starts out on Crowder on Sat.

He looked to be boxing out more last night and he had a great second half. All in all a good game for
Andre aside from that beauty of a turnaround that clanked off the top of the backboard.

He was hit on the arm on that turnaround, although the fact that he is shooting fadeaway jumpers from his chest isn't helping him. Quinn really didn't do him any favors by not helping to correct his shooting form, I'd imagine once he gets in the NBA that will be the first thing his coaches tear down. He's making himself about 5" shorter by shooting from that level.

Crowder will pull him out to the three point line where he generally gets lit up. I'd rather see him down low. Hopefully roscoe can play and d up crowder for some of the gane

I thought he was hit on that. He really does need to hold it higher when he shoots. Well rather just lose the fadeaway turnarounds altogether. He stuck his ass into be guy and got great positioning and then does that. Once he develops a back to the basket game it's all over

Andre is very coach-able, quite frankly. I do wish he would dribble to get rhythm on his foul shots.

AD's perimeter defense has shown significant improvement over the season and I agree that he clearly intimidated Melvin. Crowder will be a tougher matchup (greater range, more physical and more likely to throw his body into AD in search of fouls)...we are doomed, clearly DOOMED!

He adjusts as the game goes along, happened against USF, happened again against WVU, I'd much rather him going against Crowder than AO, AO is way to slowfooted and seems to think since he is a big he doesn't have to defend the 3 point line at all.

He did a fine job against Kevin Jones.

I agree I'd rather have him other than Alex. Hopefully. Roscoe can give us some quality minutes on d too but who knows with his Achilles.

I'd rather not see Drummond on Crowder. To start the game I'd put Oriakhi on him, but I'd also love to see Roscoe get a shot at him, or even DJO. Roscoe's defensive prowess is just the reason we have him on the team. I remember last year he would shut down everybody from Jordan Hamilton to Matt Howard.

Drummond, IMO, is better served guarding somebody who is not an outisde threat, where he can control the paint. Drummond's post defense has been very good, but I'd like to see him improve his shot blocking instincts. Most of his blocks seem to come when an opponent tries to dump it down low, however, he could be a huge asset if he began switching over to block guards as well.

Problem is, Drummond seems to have trouble recovering back to his man when he attempts to cheat and block a shot. This is something that should improve with time.
