Whitmer could be one more concussion away from retirement. Certainly is always one play away from being done, as is any player.

I am very interested in seeing Cochran in the spring game. No one works harder than him, IMO, and he is as smart as you can be in the class room and on the field. With his father's influence something tells me he is confident as can be and tough as nails.

Certainly has no fear of competition. :D

P.S. Notice I didn't mention you know who?

Whatever happened with Lagow - if this kid becomes a player for wherever he goes and it is not Storrs, CT, this coaching staff single-handedly just blew this entire program apart. At the position we have had struggles with, the most important position on a football team, if this staff pulled an offer becasue of some confusion, then Warde needs to act like an administrator at this school. I don't care if we got Boyle. This kid was the biggest marketer of the University and he wasn't even getting paid for it. Disgrace.

Wow.....in a world where one stupid post proceeds another, you have just managed to stand out and scream from the mountain top.

No way is Whitmer a guaranteed lock for the next two years. Or even a lock for next year. We have yet to see what Cochran can do.

If someone else beats out Whitmer on merit, we will be in pretty good shape. I don't think that's going to happen, but you never know when this dopey coaching staff will hang the poor guy out to dry again.

We need to move on from on this. It was obvious to anyone with a pulse that the kid decided days before signing day that he wasn't coming.

Really need to lay off P on this one. My God nobody wanted him gone more than me after last year (well, maybe a couple guys) but this questioning P's integrity over this is pure garbage. If myself, sportsart, whaler, and HFD are defending P from these attacks, it might be a good inclination that you've gone way too far and have fallen off your rocker. Enough already.

Stop with the faux outrage. He called UConn's bluff, when UConn had the cards to win the hand. He is a 3 star recruit, who was rated below the 3 star recruit that UConn actually landed. Support the kids entering the program and leave those who thought they were all that to reap what they sow.

this board is starting to follow the bball boards path to ville. lagow was a verbal commit. we clearly were looking for 3qbs all class. we got the w/o and we eventually landed boyle instead of a reach elsewhere(kid from va we were high on named ford i think...). wether lagow was actually sick on NSD and ddidn't know how it worked and decided not to contact the staff(sounds silly hugh???) or he was really looking elsewhere(hinthint) doesn't matter. he didn't sign, its 100% on him not uconn or this staff. i am the crazy guy i am and i can't blame the staff. think about that. they did the right thing and did it quickly. end of story.
gotta admit, for a staff thats had trouble callng time out or getting a play called after a time out, they were quick in this case

Drop it. He didn't sign his LOI.
Yeah, UConn can afford to lose talented players. Particularly at the important QB position. Would loved to have seen hard fought competition between Boyle and Lagow - and maybe some long overdue depth at this position.

He could be waiting to see if any QB's transfer out, thus thinning the herd and the competition. It's one thing if your competing against another high school senior and a Juco transfer. But add a Junior backup QB(McCummings) and a redshirt that is highly regarded in this state and that's a lot of QB's to wade through for practice/playing time.

Now in saying that this kid should figure he's played against better competition than Boyle or Cochran so at worst he's on a level playing field with them. Why he got cold feet at the very end is anyone's guess.

Are you kidding? If you are afraid to compete at UConn for the QB position, what does that say about you? The QB position has been a disaster for a long time. Not one big time performer since Dan O left. Is their a better D1 program to have to compete at?

The Lagows still wanted to come, even after Boyle signed. They tried to mend fences. PP wasn't willing. That's pretty much it. No more from me on this. Good luck to the Lagows. I still hold out hope they come to UConn.

Maybe that's the reason, the "Lagows". Not recruiting players with bigmouth fathers has always worked for Geno.

...blah blah blah... I don't care if we got Boyle. ... blah blah blah

Boyle throws like Dan O (or better) and runs like Lorenzen (or better) and I'm going to remind you of this statement some day. I hope you see this post Tim.

You mean aside from his father bad mouthing and disrespecting the staff on this very board?

You don't have a clue as to what happened. So instead of questioning our current staff's integrity, why don't you follow your own advice and just zip it. Your bromance love for Kyle Lagow is just awkward.

The program is above the staff. Please do me a favor and ignore me. Your stalking me is more awkward.

In any other year, we would be going nuts over getting Boyle. There would be daily posts talking about how great it was. JimmyS would be gushing with baited breadth.

But since a 5-6 QB from TX decided to quit on UCONN, we obsess over that?

I hope Lagow all the success, but I'm not going to be a fan.

What if a certain player sucks at the college level? A certain player won a state 7 on 7 title, but last I checked, the American college game is played with eleven to a side...and we all know how inmportant those Big Uglies are to a team's overall success. It's not like this guy was a 5 star player and a shoe-in to play as a freshman.

Look forward to a competition between the players in house. This certain young man made a calculated decision. He played the leverage game. I think it backfired on him. There is only one person to blame, and that person does not currently wear Husky Blue.

I won't allow you to continue to smear our current staff just because Kyle Lagow sent you a couple of PM's and you're star struck and smitten. You don't have any idea what happened here. None.

What an ironic statement. Go play with someone else. I don't have the drive to keep up with your stupidity. And keep being star-struck by PP.

I'll even help you out and ignore you. If you think Kyle Lagow = being star-struck, you must really suck at life.

I think the main thing with this kid, was the enthusiasm and support he had for the program, we often don't see it with so called "big time" recruits, at least before social media. Especially the amount of time he did it for. Especially the marketing angle which we have talked about it on here, RL did a great job. But his job was to sign and prove it on the field and in the classroom, we already have cheerleaders, and to me he was the biggest one to not have played at the university. I would rather have a qb on the field, not a cheerleader. Whatever his pops said is irrelevant to me, but enjoyed the soap opera being played out. To me it's simple, are you in or are you out. Clearly he was out. So am I on this topic.

You want me to stop then quit talking out of your ass.

I suck at life? Do you see me begging for free tickets before every home game?

He's actually signing the LOI tomorrow, but things are looking good.
