For those that are new to the game and others that have forgotten it is requested that discussions other than prognostications of the game should be posted on other threads that your discussion pertains to. If you wish to prognosticate your prediction that is okay if you post your score. The winner/s will be posted soon after the game’s completion.

UConn plays 31-3 #1 Seed USC in the Region 4 Elite Eight in Spokane, WA after the Trojans 67-61 win over Kansas St. Southern Cal gave UConn one of their 3 losses of the regular season on 12/21/24. This will be the third ever meeting between the two teams, with the Huskies winning the first matchup in last year’s Elite Eight 80-73 and USC squeaking out a 72-70 win back in December with JuJu scoring 25 points in 38 minutes of playing time. It was Azzi’s first game back, playing only 8 minutes and going o-4. Huskie’s NCAA Tournament offense is averaging 92 points a game while allowing 50 points, a 42-point spread. While USC is averaging 78 points a game and allowing 48 a 30-point spread. USC and UConn have played three common opponents this season, Notre Dame, Mississippi and Seton Hall. The Trojans beat Ole Miss in Paris 68-66 on 11/4/24, lost to ND at home on 12/23/24 74-61 and beat Seton Hall at home 84-51 on 11/27/24. While UConn beat Ole Miss on 11/27/24 73-60 in the Bahamas, lost to ND 79-68 on 12/12/24 in South Bend and beat Seton Hall 96-36 at Gampel on 1/19/25 and 91-49 on 2/19/25 in South Orange. UConn has been playing their best basketball since their win at SC, and even better in the NCAA Tournament. Their defense is forcing over 22 turnovers a game vs less than 10 a game for the Huskies. In this year’s Sweet Sixteen UConn was the only team that won by more than 20 points, the other three matches were single digit wins. It’s payback time for UConn, Southern Cal will be hard pressed to match UConn’s offense and defense without JuJu playing.
