For those that are new to the game and others that have forgotten it is requested that discussions other than prognostications of the game should be posted on other threads that your discussion pertains to. If you wish to prognosticate your prediction that is okay if you post your score. The winner/s will be posted soon after the game’s completion.

Providence wins against Butler 75-60, so this will be game three between the Friars and the Huskies, this one will be on a neutral court, (wink-wink) at the Mohegan Sun. UConn won both games at home 85-41 and at Providence 65-42. The game should be a sellout with many UConn fans showing support for the Huskies as well as the other Big East fans enjoying the tournament. Providence was overly physical in the last game, and I hope that the Big East emphasizes that the officials control the physicality of the game. Providence has been in a major slump over the last 10 regular season games with only two wins. Both were against bottom feeder Xavier winning 66-42 at home and 69-60 @Xavier. Their home losses were against Marquette 62-66, Butler 48-55, Seton Hall 65-71 and UConn 65-42. While their road losses are against DePaul 72-84, Georgetown 44-54, Villanova 58-68 and St. John’s 42-60. The Friars SoS by Massey is #82 and rated #132, average 59.9 points a game, while giving up 63.9 points. Their game stats average per game is 39 rebounds, 11.9 assists, 7.4 steals, 4.1 blocks, 20.3 turnovers, 41.1 FG%, 65.9 FT%, and have a 29.4 3pt%. Their best win was against Villanova, Massey rated #51 and worst loss was against Iona, Massey rated #290. Offensively they are ranked 200th while defensively they are ranked 65th vs UConn SoS #4, rated #2 while being ranked 4th in both offense and defense.

  • All predictions and any changes must be submitted by 11:45 A.M. Eastern on game day, any submitted after the cut-off will not be accepted.
  • The winner must be named, either UConn/Huskies or Providence/Friars. No predictions like "85-55 the good guys", will be accepted if there isn't a winner stated.
  • If prior to the closing of the Prognosticator’s Predictions, you wish to change your prognostication you must submit a new prediction by stating that you wish to change your previous prediction and provide the post number of the original post. If the request for change is submitted prior to the closing of accepted predictions, you will receive a "like" letting you know that it was accepted and changed.
  • If someone believes that they have been missed, or someone notices that another fellow Prognosticator has been by the gamekeeper, then it must be brought to the gamekeeper's attention within 24 hours of the posting of the winner(s) game thread.
  • I don’t see UConn having many problems with the Friars, who will be playing their 2nd game in less than 24 hours so UConn should wear them down by the end of the 2nd qtr and move on to the Conference Semi-Finals. UConn 88 – Providence 54.

UConn 75-50
Providence claws back points in the 4 th q as bench plays most of it.

Playing reserves will keep it closer than I would normally expect:

UConn 78 Providence 52
