For those that are new to the game and others that have forgotten it is requested that discussions other than prognostications of the game should be posted on other threads that your discussion pertains to. UConn plays in the inaugural Women’s Champions Classic at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. They are playing the second game against the Louisville Cardinals, after Tennessee and Iowa.
Louisville is coached by Jeff Walz who has a career record of 469-138 a .714 winning percentage, has coached in four Final Fours reaching the Championship game twice, both times he lost to UConn. The first was on 04/07/09 with UConn winning 76-24 giving Renee Montgomery her only NC in her last game as a Husky. The second was on 04/09/13 winning 93-60 still the largest MOV in the championship game giving Geno his 8th NC tying Pat Summitt for the most NC and the first of four straight NC for UConn and Stewie and Company.
The Cardinals are currently 5-3 and this will be their 4th game against a Top 25 opponent, going 0-3 against the first three teams UCLA 66-59 #8, Kentucky 71-61 #20, and Oklahoma 78-62 #11, rankings were the time of play. In the OK game they blew the 4th qtr letting the Sooners score 29 vs Ville’s 12. UConn has a 19-3 record losing their first meeting at Gampel 74-71 on 3/17/93. They then won the next 17 games from 1/31/06 to 2/12/18, before losing 78-69 at the Yum Center in Louisville on 1/31/19. UConn got their revenge in the Albany Regional final on 3-31-19 winning 80-73 because of KLS’ 29 points. They didn’t play again until 12/19/21 in the Women’s Hall of Fame Showcase at the Mohegan Sun with the Cardinals winning 69-64, outscoring the injury riddled Huskies 27-19 in the 4th quarter. Their last matchup was last season on 12/16/23 in the XL with UConn winning 86-62. Their largest MOV was an 84-38 win on 2/10/10 at Freedom Hall in Louisville, while their smallest MOV win was 65-59 on 3/11/08 in the XL. Louisville tallest player is a 6’5” Freshman. Louisville has 4 Seniors, 1 Junior, 1 Sophomore, and 9 Freshman.

- The winner must be named, either UConn/Huskies or Louisville/Cardinals. No predictions like "85-55 the good guys", will be accepted if there isn't a winner stated.
- If prior to the closing of the Prognosticator’s Predictions, you wish to change your prognostication you must submit a new prediction by stating that you wish to change your previous prediction and provide the post number of the original post. If the request for change is submitted prior to the closing of accepted predictions, you will receive a "like" letting you know that it was accepted and changed.
- If someone believes that they have been missed, or someone notices that another fellow Prognosticator has been by the gamekeeper, then it must be brought to the gamekeeper's attention within 24 hours of the posting of the winner(s) game thread.
