Prognosticators Game 8 (Butler) Predictions

Looks like we may finally get game 8 of the season, hoping that it all goes smoothly from here on out. Butler is way over matched in this contest. They were competitive against Seton Hall for the first two quarters, but fell by 15 in the end only scoring a total of 25 points in the last two. UConn is going to play their first game since the Providence game on January 9th. The team is ready to play a game and if the practices are supposed to be harder than the games, this game will be most likely be like the battle of Tippecanoe, UConn is W.H. Harrison and Butler is the Prophet equals a massacre of the Bulldogs. With all that being said UConn 105 - Butler 44. All prognostications must be submitted by 6:25 EST or 3:25 PST. Good luck to all you Prognosticator's out there and the Prognosticators Scoring criteria is attached.
Too close to inauguration day for comparisons to William Henry Harrison for me. You know how short his reign at the top was, right?;)

Geez..........Geez.......if we actually get to play and see this game: UConn 95 - Butler 53. All the practice time with Geno emphazing defense pays off.

So hard to predict scores this year. Its great to have subs, but when will Geno start putting them in? Is there a player like Williams who will unexpectantly see the bench? Do we have a game when the defensive players like Aubrey and Mir get alot of minutes - i.e. less competitive scoring; maybe less UConn points?

UConn wins 91-48.

Even though I also predicted a 50 point rout, I am a little surprised no one mentioned the potential effect of the TN game on Thursday (on the road with 2 days). Maybe Butler is a bit of a trap game since I can imagine alot of coaching energy is being divided with an eye on TN. TN has the full 4 days to prepare after a pretty strong showing against AL and nothing would quite hurt like a poor showing in TN so ???? I really wish we had a few bigger games under our belt before TN.

I am sure I will be slammed for worrying over nothing which I appreciate since it makes me feel better.

Starting again. I think the emphasis for the team will be on defense in this game in preparation for the Tennessee game. I figure the MOV will be about 45 points with Butler not scoring more that forty. 85-40 Huskies.

48 point MOV: 94-46. It's good to be home after a long time without other teams to "light up"...

Butler is the worst team in our league. I will be surprised if we don't win by over 50. When Liv and Evina were asked in the pre-game presser "What have you been working on since the last game - Geno wasn't happy about some things - that you are excited to implement?"

Both of them talked about defense, specifically communicating more on defense. I think the defense will be swarming and I will be surprised if Butler scores more than 40

Butler first of course. I don't think the trap game aspect worries me as much as just the general lack of competition, continuity and development this season. Hard to imagine Butler "trapping" us. They just are not a very good team. 6' Jr G/F Adika leads them in just about every statistical category except assists and steals (5'9" Sr Atosu leads assists and steals but DNP last game). How has UConn done against teams (even pretty good teams) with only one standout player? Just because it's the prediction thread I'll say 98-46.

I share your concern regarding the LV, but more because of the state of the development of our team is unproven, especially versus any program that has had close to twice as many games against mostly better competition.

In a normal season we would be ready to do some work down in Knoxville, and maybe they are. This season, every game seems like a November game and that makes it near impossible to really know where they are at. Let the slamming begin.

I expect this game will be quite one sided...........just stay healthy UConn!!!

I take it you mean 95 - 46, because I know that UConn is good, but no way do they score 9,546 points in 40 minutes.
Yes, UConn 95-46. Could have sworn I inserted the -

Serge, I second your take. I was thinking the same thing before I read your comment. This one is going to turn ugly. How ugly depends on how quickly UConn can find their rhythm. I expect a double digit lead before the first TV timeout.

I think Geno releases the “Kraken” tonight.
UConn 97 Butler 48

Butler won’t score more than forty if UConn can and will keep the pressure on (their foot on the gas) for 40 minutes, and not ease up late in the game. There will be lots of rust to shake off.

The starters must be ready for Tennessee on Thursday. Geno may leave them in until he’s satisfied with their play. UConn is the biggest game on TN’s schedule. This game will be ugly too, but a different kind of ugly.

The Lady Vols are going to do everything they can to avenge last year’s loss, and protect their house. A nationally televised game, the world will be watching.

You can bet UConn is going to get Tennessee's best. Evina’s teammates know how much this game means to her. They’ll have her back. UConn and Evina leave Knoxville smiling and content with a win. ;)

Husky bites
Auriemma said he has not been part of any discussions about extending UConn’s series with Tennessee beyond this year.

UConn comes out rusty and Geno will go deep into the bench to give role player minutes. Although he may decide the Top 7 players need the minutes to get ready for the Lady Vols on Thursday. If that's the case UConn might score 100+ points.

That's whats got ESPN in all twisted up about hyping the series so much. They want (maybe need) UConn on their stations when it comes to Women's basketball. UConn is going to be a powerhouse over the next 5 to 7 years with who Geno has coming on board. FOX, CBS Sports, and SNY are the one airing the games not ESPN. Next year they may have 3 games max during the regular season and they want more.

Three hours left to get in your Prognostications. Good Luck and GO HUSKIES!!!

I don't see this being much of a dog fight. UCONN 93-41
