finally enters the Top 25: From ESPN

"South Carolina remains No. 1 in The Associated Press poll while Western Kentucky enters the Top 25 for the first time in nearly 17 years.
Associated Press Top 10
i
South Carolina remained No. 1 in The Associated Press poll for the seventh straight week, and Baylor moved into the top 5.
1. South Carolina 6. Louisville
2. UConn 7. Tennessee
3. Texas 8. North Carolina
4. Notre Dame 9. Texas A&M
5. Baylor 10. Kentucky
The Gamecocks opened SEC play with convincing victories over Auburn and LSU to stay unbeaten. Connecticut, Texas, Notre Dame and Baylor follow South Carolina.
Western Kentucky leads three new teams in the Top 25. The No. 25 Lady Toppers are 12-2, their two losses coming to No. 6 Louisville and No. 14 Mississippi State. Western Kentucky last was in the poll on March 9, 1998.
Joining them this week are No. 22 Princeton and No. 23 Minnesota. The Tigers are one of four unbeaten teams left in women's basketball, along with South Carolina, Texas and Mississippi State.
Minnesota enters the rankings for the first time since March 13, 2006.
Seton Hall, Michigan State and DePaul dropped out."

There's been some muttering from some of us about catching a Princeton game... maybe at Penn??? Just tossing it out there...

Hardly anyone goes to the Princeton home games. You could sit right behind their bench. That's where I'll be the rest of the year. If you guys go to the game at Penn let me know. I'm going to that one too.

This Princeton team reminds me of last year's UCONN team. They play the game so well that when they make a mistake it kind of surprises you. At least that's what I've seen so far.

One of their guards would have surprised you 9 times at tonight's Hampton game!

Also from tonight's game the Tigers starters shot 12-40 from the field but their bench was 14-17!!!

Dang! I think I'm in New Mexico... wait, no. I ought to be back... Hmmm. Wonder if it's possible to take a half day. What are the travel logistics involved in getting to the Palestra?

It's about 6-7 blocks from the 30th Street train station. Easy.

they need one or two signature win...they might be the only unbeaten team left when the regular season ends only because their opponents are weak. The only win worthy mentioning was the win over Michigan while West Kentucky does not have any meaningful win.

Maybe getting into the Top 25 went to their heads a little bit. lol

Just think of it...hardly anyone goes to their games and this is the highest an Ivy League team has been ranked.

I think they'll bounce back at home Saturday afternoon. Anyone wants to join me I'll be sitting behind their bench (if I can- noone was sitting there last game). I wanna see these guys up close (I sit right behind the bench at Maryland and Delaware games).

Well, they won't have the opportunity to enhance their resume, which is unfortunate. But having a 30 point win over Michigan and a 16 point win over Pitt, both on the road, is very impressive.

If the difficulty of winning on the road and margin of victory are factored in, these two wins will look very good to the committee. Once you get below a three seed, it will be extremely difficult to find teams whose top two wins look better than this (again, that assumes you factor in MoV and being on the road).

If Princeton goes undefeated and doesn't have any clunkers along the way they deserve no worse than a four seed.

Yeah, I said in another thread that this team is pretty deep. They have a good bench.

Another thing about Saturday's game: They had a deal at halftime when I went there that anyone in the audience was invited to try to make a free throw for a prize. We can all go out and see how our free throws are (I'll be practicing this week at the local gym). lol

I like their coach- Courtney Banhart- very much.As well as the one at Cal. Would she be a good fit for UCONN whenever that dreaded day come? Perhaps her style would not translate.

You can watch the game on their website Saturday.

I think one of the UCONN assistants would be ideal to succeed Geno.

Yep, they should be the only unbeaten left since SC and Miss St. play in the SEC (and SC is playing UCONN- haha). Texas has to play Baylor twice too.

I would've thought that more teams would have went undefeated during the regular season though.

Princeton goes to 17-0 with a victory over Penn. They should break the Top 20 this week but won't play again for almost 3 weeks.

I couldn't make it to the game.

Princeton plays Yale in New Haven on Feb. 14. I know it's Valentine's Day and all, but maybe my sweetie will let me go to the game as my Valentine's Day present. Better than a box of chocolates that will go straight to my thighs.

And then there were three...

Miss. St. loses to Vanderbilt.

You're in for a treat. Try to get a seat behind their bench and watch the way their coaching staff operates.

Blake Dietrich is WNBA material for sure.

Make that...and then there were two.

I didn't see that Texas lost. LOL

STRIP: appreciating your enthusiasm for this team and your updates on their news. Looks like they walloped the Quakers, one of their major league rivals for this season. Will point out again that their junior class seems to be an unusually deep and talented group.

Maybe Geno should get a game with the Tigers next year, or even a home-and-home? They are getting to be in the same league as Stanford in more ways than one.

BTW, did you see Graham Hays's comment that in the AAC, UConn is playing teams in the same conference but not in the same league? I thought that was a bon mot of the first order.

Let me beat others to it. UConn is in a league of it's own. An ESPN's Graham Hays - the SEC networks' Graham Hays - can't say that.

That would be awesome. I'd finally be able to get a good seat to a UCONN game!
