It took that interview to realize a person as insanely competitive as Jim Calhoun would miss coaching?

Gist was...

Katz asked him about what he misses and mentioned Larry Brown having success being three years older than him.

JC said he misses everything about it especially the kids and Brown is an inspiration.

Katz asked if he would coach again and he didn't say no...said his focus is watching UConn play and rooting for them. Way he reacted, it was pretty clear he is thinking about or would consider a comeback...

JC just had a bad run health wise with several bouts of cancer plus the fractured hip when he fell off his bike. I dont think Brown had much of that. Head coaching is so much stress

It's not happening, but he likes to stay relevant it's in his DNA compete wise. Flying around recruiting, uh huh.

I could see him at a low-expectation place like Central. Just to keep his hand in.

no way he leaves us, he's the Godfather and he's still involved

he loves the school, his program, KO and all the kids who played at UConn

he's simply not leaving the family he built

Calhoun to Memphis! I kid, I kid...kind of.

There's people over on the memphis boards calling for Josh's head, and saying Calhoun should replace him lol

Pretty sure they're not kidding

The interview means nothing, Michael Jordan said during his HOF speech he will come back at age 50 to play against Kobe and Lebron. Calhoun is one of the most competitive people your ever gonna see you ask him if he misses coaching what do you think he's gonna say.

Yea interesting answer. I don't think I could stomach watching him coach elsewhere though.

What if Calhoun was hired to coach at BC? Could you imagine?! :)

E.O. Smith? Within biking distance of his house. Only sticking point is you can't recruit at a public high school.

OTOH, how many families with kids with even a hint of basketball aptitude set up residency in Storrs/Mansfield? Good for the tax base...just sayin...
