Then blame yourself since you also responded. Stop being a part of the problem and leave the discussion if that's what your problem is.

You know, on second thought, no politician has ever been asked a question, and then decided to respond with a message they want to get out, rather than actually answering the question. You're right, that is unheard of. Politicians, especially ones as politically astute as Obama, ALWAYS answer the questions that are asked of them. It would be completely unrealistic for a president to say he's more concerned with issues that affect every man, woman, and child? in this country than those that affect less than 1%. Why would he dare respond that he'd rather talk about more pressing issues? Clearly, concussions in the NFL is what we all go to bed at nigh worrying about. Everything else is "doing just fine".

Wake up.
I guess assumptions are terrible....not part of the problem..haven't read an article about his answer. It was discussed on morning radio as i drove to work....until i turned it off.

But you should make his life easier. Apparently elected officials can only discuss issues on your approved list. I hope share this list with your elected officials in a timely manner. That way they will know to avoid straying from your list and have proper answers prepared. You can bring efficiency to DC!

Heaven forbid an intelligent man take 30 or so seconds to answer a question about the most popular sport in America and its impact on children. I guess if he had dodged that question to provide an answer to one of your approved questions...all would be right in the world.

Before he got elected the most important issue was flag-pins.

Oh please. What a stupid straw man response. Approved list? Not what I said. Not even close. You're the one who pretended it was unheard of for a politician to respond with an answer that had nothing to do with the question. Apparently you aren't intelligent enough to understand the difference between "should have" and "must".

You want to blame the consumer, like yourself, who is discussing his answer for it being a story, while claiming people, like yourself, made his answer a story by discussing it. Which is strange, because the fact is if the question wasn't asked, or the answer wasn't reported, there never would have been a story. Which brings me back to my point, which was the media (which he pretends isn't on his side) would rather lob him softballs so people can think this intelligent man is so concerned with the safety of children in this country, 99.9% of whom will never play football in college or high school, that they'll ignore the $16 trillion (and rising) in debt he's helped rack up on those kids backs.

Please keep the partisan political nonsense in the Cesspool.

I said nothing about any political party, or the virtues of one vs, another, or the virtues of being an independent (i.e, nothing partisan)

Nothing about my criticism of the media, or the president's judgement was partisan. And it would apply whether he were a democrat, republican, independent, or unaffiliated.

Please tell that to the person who started the thread, or the one who moved it here, or anyone else in this thread for that matter.

THis is such a microcosm.

there are what 7 million hits a day on espn.com main page, spawing what 35 or more million hits on ohter sites a day?

You put a headline on espn.com. with the words president, Obama, concussion? you're getting 100 million hits in a day. THe president put a statement out in the media that will be seen. And it's a statement that reflects zero knowledge of the subject matter, but will influence public opinion.

I had a whole long thing typed out but never mind, gone. Propoganda. I hate propoganda.

It's no mistake that there is a comment in there from Obama about unions, and the NFL players being ok because of unions, in this little piece of propoganda. It's entirely misguided and false, but it's there. THe college players are going to be fine, not the NFL, unless things change- in reality - but Obama made his opinion known to the contrary.

I really wonder what our world will be like in the future. I'm doing the best I can to teach my family, and everyone I know, how to sift through information, and find what's valueable and what's garbage.

Too many people follow garbage, the people that don't will be valueable.

Really? He likes to pretend the media is against him is pretty partisan.

If we were face to face I would speak slowly so you could understand, but as it were, you'll just have to reread what you quoted, and then this until you get it.

My criticism of the president's judgement (in how he answered the question) was not partisan, and it would apply regardless of his party. My criticism of the president was (as I said) with his judgement. His judgement has nothing to do with the media being in his pocket.

If you want to call my comment that he pretends the media is against him "partisan", then you should just watch this clip. Here he is; pretending the media is against him (in an attempt to be funny.)

When you sarcastically pretend I have an approved list of topics available for discussion, you are creating a straw man.

Yes, you were wrong.

Typical Alinsky-ite. When unable to defend your stance, ridicule the opposition. Nothing that disproves my post, nothing that supports yours, just ridicule. Typical.

I understand you have a hard on for me, that's a "you" problem. There were plenty of other posts on the first page of this thread you didn't respond to.

Get off my dick.

The future of at least amateur football ( high school , little league) is probably going to change in this country. I played organized football from age 7 to 19. I'm in my forties now and after about 4 concussion's, a broken nose and two knee surgeries I feel lucky, it could've been worse.

Yeah, thats right. Obama's not allowed to have an opinion on anything that is not political in nature. He can't sleep, he can't take 15 minutes to do "the Presidential Bracket" bit on ESPN in March, he can't enjoy Football (Played on Sundays. You know? The Fore Fathers' day of rest?), and he can't have an opinion on the game its .

Football at that level is inheritly dangerous, but these guys who play professionally know the risks going in, even before all the concussion and CTE studies going on today. One look at Earl Campbell illustrates the toll at the NFL level.

You may be interested to know that President Theodore Roosevelt, a Republican, once looked into the safety of college Football (Pro football was not really considered a legitimate sport until "Red" Grange entered the game), and considered it to be on trial, casting its future in doubt. But that is not on Roosevelt's Wikipedia page so you wouldn't know that.

He should look into CUTTING TAXES and reducing regulations that is killing the economy of the USA! New England fishermen are going to hurt by a new rule, because he cares more about regulating people. We need to IMPEACH the MARXIST because he is ripping up the constitution!!

It wouldn't be news if people didn't click/respond to such articles. So yes i blame the consumer. And again he was asked a question. Should he have said " i know you asked me a simple sports question, but i would rather offer an answer on the upcoming jobs report."? Be real.

If Obama ever said "I know you asked me a simple sports question, but I would rather offer an answer on the upcoming jobs report.", I think I would faint. Of course, the drive by media, wouldn't ever ask him about that, and his TELEPROMPTER wouldn't know what to say!!

Anyone who uses the term "drive-by media" can't think for himself and should be ignored.

Wow, seems like you are really oppressed. It's amazing you even have the time and ability to post on a free message board.

What time does the U-Haul truck come for your move to Canada? ;)

He should be worried about a number of things, but football is not one of them.

Wow, if we all followed that little nugget, the Boneyard would be a lonely place.

I just think his time could be used better taking care of other things like: The debt, The economy, Middle East issues and a number of other things.

That's certainly reasonable and not too much to ask of the Commander in Chief.

But how in the world, is the president going to get a positive word in for labor unions and at the same time show the public how swell of a guy he is, by generating millions upon millions of internet hits with some kind of 4 paragraph blurb about that stuff?

(btw : I'm not against labor unions, I'm against corrupt labor unions having their hands in politics.)
