CD is amazing. The Associate Head Coach is committed to orderliness without looking regimented. It was clearly visible on Sunday at Temple. Players come to the bench after pre-game warm-up. Check. High fives for all 12 from Shea and Marisa. Check. According to height, Moriah to Natalie, CD taps each on the shoulder as return to the court, lining up even with the free throw line. Check. A fine example of how UConn women "present themselves," as Swin once put it. Paying attention. Taking care of business at hand.

I noticed, in a different picture, that they all put their hands over their hearts in exactly the same way during the National Anthem. Except for Kia, of course, who stood there very respectfully.

Only in the bizarre world of women's basketball is 5'11" taller than 6'. I've seen several of these lineups and if they are lining up by height then Gabby is taller than Kia.

If Gabby lines up after Kia you can be SURE she is taller, even if by a little bit. As for the reported heights, there probably was an error converting/rounding Kia's height from "Canadian" eh? ;)

Watching SC vs. TENN, I was struck by the lack of uniformity in the uniforms. Shirt untouched here, half a pair of tights there, socks up, socks down, different headbands, undershirts long sleeve/short sleeve, etc. And then there is Wilson's modified jersey and rolled shorts.

Not happening in CD's world. Players who are willing to go along with these expectations are instantly identified as unselfish and team orientated. All hail CD!!

Consistency is the hobgoblin of great basketball programs.
Not to be pedantic (too late!), but the phrase is a FOOLISH consistency. Emerson really struggled with the question of fate vs. personal agency (eventually most profoundly manifested in his magisterial essays "Fate" and "Power" in The Conduct of Life in 1860).

UConn players all wear different shoes, do different things with their hair, and I'm sure if we really paid attention we could find other differences between the uniforms.

Not to be even more pedantic, but isn't the word "foolish" relative? You know, like: big, small, rich, poor. Therefore, it serves no meaningful purpose ...except to the writer and his or her admirers ...of which, by the way, I am one. So I guess this only applies to all right-minded Boneyarders.

Well, Breanna's sweat pattern on her jersey is most closely resembled by Kia's, but each is unique. Do you think CD has been made aware and is working on a solution?

I'm not so sure about that part.

Having watched Ms. Wilson with So. Car. a number of times now, I'm thinking that as good as she is, had she chosen UConn, Geno and CD would have had their hands full with her need for individualism. Just sayin.

It is all a matter of comportment. And if y'all had spent any time in Texas, you would know that young ladies do not "sweat"; they "glow".

The shoes and hair accessories were the first two that came to mind. I do not really care about the uniformity of the presentation, which is almost impossible to do 100% even at UConn, nor do I think it means we're somehow better than some other program just because Staley allows Wilson to wear a uniform that's more comfortable for her. UConn allows players to wear different shoes in which they are most comfortable, so what's the big deal?

Oh, I don't think it means UConn is somehow better either. They show that other ways. However, IMHO, it does create the perception that individualism trumps team in the organization. Again ...just say'n.

Because every player in Tenn thinks she is a star, is a unique player. I hate to see those players with the same DD's hair style. They believe they are in a fashion show?

Great observation. Our players always show great respect for the opposition although Courtney here appears to be giving the Owls the old choke sign. I'm sure CD will have a little chat with her.

RW Emerson's quote is "A foolish consistency is the hobgoblins of little minds". Rocky took a little lierary license to make a point.

Obviously CD thinks it is important and contributes to a team being better. I'll go with her expertise.

Huh? What does that have to do with what I said? Are you saying that CD thinks individualism by players is good for team chemistry?
