Spartans No. 1 in AP preseason poll for 1st time

Michigan State is No. 1 in The Associated Press Top 25 men's college basketball preseason poll for the first time in program history.

Memphis is the only AAC team on the list, opening the season at #14.

The Big East has 3 teams on the list, Nova # 10, Seaton Hall #12, Xavier #19.


UConn has 4 match-ups scheduled with 3 teams in the Top 25, Florida #6 (home), Villanova #10 (away), Memphis #14 (Home/Away). Match-ups with Xavier #19 and Florida #6 are possible on a neutral court at the CoCC depending on how the bracket unfolds.

Would be pretty cool if we play Florida twice. If we lose the home game we could still beat them in Charleston. Hopefully we just break their hearts twice.

Am I the only one who is not high on Memphis? A team with that many freshmen leading the charge and a rookie coach? That's never happened before.

Plus, Memphis' recruiting class is great, but doesn't have the same top-end talent as some of the great Kentucky/Duke classes and even those teams didn't always perform the way they were projected to be.
