And we’re #3 in Bart Torvik’s projections.

We are #4 in my consensus model:
consensus.PNG

There's a pretty clear top tier with Duke, Kansas, Purdue and we're tops of tier 2 since the computers like us more than Mich St.

Sources:
Humans (all polls post-July) - The Athletic, ESPN. CBS (Parrish), CBS Candid Coaches Poll, Three Man Weave, and The Almanac. I know this partially double counts the Weave guys, but I think they're very good so I'm okay with it.

Computers - BartTorvik, Hoop-Explorer, and Haslametrics.

Vegas - I got consensus odds from Covers. Sportsbooks include FanDuel, DraftKings, PointsBet, BetMGM, BetRivers, and Caesars.

FAU will finish the season unranked and might barely make the round of 32. Seeing them ranked so high by everyone is why preseason rankings should not exist.

30+ win team that was just in the FF, that returns all 5 starters and 8 of their top 9 players and you think they don't deserve those rankings? Am I missing something? Sure they'll probably lose a few more games in a (slightly) tougher AAC, but this is a weird take

This is comical at best and if serious - ridiculous

I like being under the radar more and being disrespected. Oh well, not mad about this
I get it but once you win I feel you need to embrace it. I'm a Sox fan and it always killed me how a couple of fellow die-hards would whine like an underdog in 2005. Giants fans too, calling themselves "long-suffering" shortly after the Tuna won his couple.

An incredible coach. Probably the best actual coach in the business when it comes to team building and X's and O's.

I like the man, great coach

I had them winning the title @400/1 (I think first week in January the bet was placed) on DK. Put down $100. So the SDSU buzzer beater cost me since by default the pick would have won with a UConn vs FAU title matchup.

I wouldn't make that play now @ 50/1 or 60/1.

Their odds to win it all right now are more indicative of what they will do when compared to their ranking. They are around 50-1. This has them next to Miami, Auburn and Memphis. Their ranking has them next to teams like Marquette, Creighton, and Arizona. Way off. I would argue that their odds should be closer to 100-1
this year. Squares would bite at that and have a 1% chance to cash that ticket.

Interesting point is that they are still fairly young. They may not have any senior starters this year. It is easy to be bearish as it relates to title aspirations for any mid major without a core of solid seniors. The bracket did open up for them and Memphis arguably got screwed.

Hard to root against a team though (other than me!) that keeps its core together including the coach after that Final 4 run. Especially when Martin and Davi$ could have landed anywhere.
