You mean that list doesn't excite you!?!? I'm just shocked...how could anyone not like playing...these fine...alright, yeah, it's pretty atrocious. For football, playing Army and Navy is okay from an exposure perspective, but that list is about as athletically stimulating as watching a race between a rock and dead turtle.Could you imagine if we were in the s*** show for hoops? Good lord what a mess......

Okay… so where would you slot UConn in the AAC Preseason rankings for 2024?You mean that list doesn't excite you!?!? The top 3 teams would probably crush us right now. I’d fit us in just below USF. So 5th.Okay… so where would you slot UConn in the AAC Preseason rankings for 2024?
@Kembafan gave a good response. We've had a lot of movement, player and coaching-wise, makes slotting a total crap shoot. Given our potential, I'd say UConn is easily top half in that list. Does UConn win the AAC regular season title if it's in that conference, probably not, but that's not the point as those schools are not ones that the university wants to align with.Okay… so where would you slot UConn in the AAC Preseason rankings for 2024?
Well except for Cincinnati, South Florida, Temple…it never worked for UConn because UConn never allowed it to work. They hired Ollie and Diaco, 2 dreadful coaches, in the sports that mattered. It was like we quit then blamed the other people because we were bad. Had we invested in football we’d be in the Big 12 now instead of a regional conference that flinches every time the NCAA announces a change in anything. It was never going to be decent for UConn as it was a conf with virtually no geographical or historical rival and was an amalgamation of schools the big east generally wanted no part of when it was a P conference. Some schools like cincy and ucf made the most of it. It was never going to work here.
Just starting to get angry?i don't WANT to be in AAC football ever again, but I don't see any big 12 invite happening either. They keep using us and i'm starting to get angry.
If there's a gameplan between jim mora and dave benedict on how to get into the P4 party, i wish i could know it. because it feels like there is none and so that makes me vulnerable to accepting a G5 fate in football (i.e. just make a deal with a conference) - except no one wants us, even the G5's. AAC is smoking drugs if they think we'll ever give them basketball again. same with the other G5 conferences.
But they'll say we're smoking drugs if we think we're getting in to their conference without giving them basketball.
I wish there was a way to figure something out partnership-wise with the Mountain West and Pac-2 remnants, if not a conference membership. Even though those schools are not close to us, I really do like the school profiles more than an AAC or CUSA. they're just... better.
I would not mind seeing a slate of games against San Diego State, Oregon State, Wash St, Boise St, Nevada, Fresno, and UNLV. It beats any other G5 situation IMO.
The only card we have is basketball - maybe hurley & geno can throw us a bone and give us a few game slots to give to those teams, in the upcoming years.
PP, Diaco then Randy 2.0. That's hard to recover from in a short period of time.Well except for Cincinnati, South Florida, Temple…it never worked for UConn because UConn never allowed it to work. I beg to differ. Pasqualoni was way better than Diaco. Had PP hired literally anyone else but DeLeone as OC, that team goes to a bowl game at least the first two years.Diaco was the best of those 3 by far which is pretty scary. Imagine the PP tenure if he didn't luck into Don Brown joining him for two years.

Not for UConn. It was a decent conference until ACC and Big 12 came knocking
When UConn beat Teddy Bridgewater's ranked Louisville team, they went 3 (or 4) and out 10 times. That was a pyrrhic victory if ever there was one. Maybe Warde would have fired PP a year earlier. Instead, another year of futility was ordained.I don't give PP any credit for lucking into Don Brown who made him look semi competent for two seasons.
The only chance of UConn getting into a P4 conference is if the ACC loses about 8 schools. Then the ACC will put us on a list behind USF, Tulane, Memphis, and some others. We’re probably independent forever. But the Big East appears to be strong for now.i don't WANT to be in AAC football ever again, but I don't see any big 12 invite happening either. If PP was the worst, why does he have the most wins of any those coaches at UConn? Literally his only problem was his loyalty to his friend. Diaco couldn't recruit, refused to let anyone out of his circle help him and set the program back far more than Pasqualoni did. Edsall, as crap as he was the second time around, at least started recruiting players that were up to the FBS level which Diaco refused to do. PP left more talent than when he game and was the best recruiter we've ever had at the time. If? He clung to DeLeone like a fool, which makes him a fool.
PP took over a talented program and drove it into the gutter, Diaco took over a dumpster fire. All three of these coaches were horrible, but PP was the worst.

GDL was a total cancer to the program and Paul let him run roughshod. What gets me off that Pasqualoni was a decent coach at the fruit with nearly a 2:1 win: loss ratio for regular season and bowls, but none of that success carried over with him at UConn.
