Thought I would share, always fun to look back. This was instigated by my girlfriends brother in law who is a big Wisconsin fan. He emailed me out of the blue dissing Uconn and I responded followed by his angry retort. Regardless I ended up getting some respect down the road for this. Also to be fair he was right too, Wisconsin turned out to be a great team and I ended up rooting for them. Its straight bs if they are not preseason number 1 next year. Here is the conversation from email the date of this discussion is February 17
Titled Unbiased Hoops Analysis
UConn has only played two rpi top 25 teams and is 1-1 (Florida, Cincinnati). Louisville and Memphis both have garbage strength of schedule (Louisville 104 and Memphis 61). Wisconsin has played 7 rpi top 25 teams and is 5-2. Our SOS rank is 2. Human polls are biased. Good luck in the tourney when you play real teams.
He had links to the two teams rpi's after this followed by my retort
That sounds really unbiased. About as Unbiased as when Dick Vitale talks about Duke. Uconn beat Maryland and Indiana, its not our fault those teams suck this year. Its odd though, I could be wrong but it seems Indiana beat Wisconsin. Wisconsin must not be very good then to lose to a team that lost to a team from such a 4h1tty conference with such a bad strength of schedule. You can spout RPI all you want, but its only one metric and each one has their own flaws. Here is one thing that everyone seems to agree on. Teams with good back-courts tend to do well in march. Guess who has one of the best backcourts in the country........
Finally his angry response which I did not follow up since what I said was all that needed to be said
Wisconsin? Indiana is 9th place in the Big Ten and is 102nd in the RPI, and you won by 1 point on a neutral court. So not a great win. Wisconsin lost by 3 on the road in one of our worst games of the year. Can’t wait for the tournament.
