I get that a lot of this nonsense is coach-speak. But the guy is completely tone-deaf when it comes to generating positive PR. If you had the 10th worst offense in the country don't you think you'd try to sell the changes a little harder?

Maybe we'll get clues on how much things have changed in the spring game, but I doubt it. I suspect we'll know at halftime of the Maryland game how much freedom TJ actually has. Hope Warde is "monitoring"

What do you expect transition-wise with a new coordinator [T.J. Weist] this spring? Do you expect to have the whole offense installed by the end of the spring or does that process take a bit longer?

PP: I expect it to go pretty smoothly. We're learning our offensive terminology and that type of stuff has not really changed, so there's going to be somewhat of a transition, but I hope it would be minimal and that we'd be moving along in that area.

He's said before that the terminology isn't much different between last year and this year and Coach Weist uses a zone blocking scheme just like Coach Deleone did.

The difference is in the play calling, in-game offensive adjustments. I am hoping against hope that Coach Weist has at least some clue how to set up plays based on what was called earlier in the game.

Yes. It's the actual play calling that can make a huge difference. Recognizing in-game situations and making adjustments.

Going half the season without scoring in the second half is unexcusable. That was the main frustration. Most games the offense was competent in the first half, but the coaching staff couldn't (or wouldn't) make the necessary in-game adjustments to keep up with the defensive adjustments.

Nice to see they want to establish pipelines into Florida and Texas and other recruiting hotbeds. Great strategic move.

Our biggest problem on offense last year was personnel use or misuse or overuse or non-use.

Next came game planing and play calling.

Next came in-game adjustments.

Then came game clock management and use of TOs.

I hope to see a large change in the first three and perhaps even the fourth.

If that was a survey I'd go C-D-B-A. But not a lot of daylight between any of the four no matter which way it's sliced

In relation to the OP - what the heck are you talking about?

I don't know anybody would expect the terminology to change. A fade route is a fade route. A screen is a screen. If we call better plays and make better plays on the field, we'll have a better offense.

The good news is that Weist is in a postion to affect all four.

"Screen" would be a new word to Statler & Waldorf.

If we don't run the ball better this season we will have our worst season since entering the Big East. Folks want magical play calling, but if we can't balance the offense with an effective run game the offense will look much like it did last season. Then the defense will be on the field as much as last season against a tougher schedule..........and believe me folks, we are not going to put a defense on the field as good as the one last season.

I don't think it's unreasonable for the offensive to get in the 70-80 range nationally and that will be a function of coaching more than anything else. And while I agree the defense won't be as good there's some reason to hope (Yawin, Stewart, J Joseph) there won't be that drastic a dropoff.

I believe that personnel use hurt our running game. Specifically, the lack of a rotation at RB. And I would also expect improvement on the offensive line as we only lost one starter and he missed many games.

Exactly. It's like he's embarrased Weist is here.
Coacb Blue is through after this year. He will not be around to see Boise or the Vols.

How on earth does someone even remotely infer that???

A lot of this fan base should be locked up in the looney bin. I get it, back to back 5-7s will do that. But jeez, let's give Weist a chance here. The terminology is the same so we're doomed? WTF? Just itching to overreact and rehash the same ol Coach P themes...

If Warde had not intervened, Dummy DeLeone would still be the OC.

That's all you need to know about Pasqualoni.

but I hope it would be minimal and that we'd be moving along in that area.
and I'd hope that you'd know whether the offense would be changing and how much.
