Post game press conference-PC

I may have been dreaming this, but I though I saw something about Dan saying that the offensive philosophy (high quality shots, lower quantity) doesn’t fit the personnel and that we’d be better off with higher quantity of shots due to streaky shooters/scorers. He also mentioned that it’s pretty late in the season to be changing the strategy.

I’m sure he didn’t count on Solo regressing as a sniper or Braylon being out, but his description clicks for me in a “that’s what I’m seeing/feeling in all of these rock fight games.”

I think it’s going to take a real coaching effort to make meaningful adjustments to have the offense be better - I’m resigned to “our personnel is what it is at this point” and there’s not going to be some “click” that makes it a suddenly high-efficient offense.

Looking forward to seeing the staff earn its $$$$$
I guess I don't understand how running offensive sets to get guys wide open / easy shots "doesn't fit the personnel"

There's a reason why he was open to shoot. Those attempts needed to go to other players. The game wouldn't have been close if he wasn't gunning with the bball IQ of a 3rd grade rec player.

I'd guess 9 of his attempts were early shot clock, contested, etc. He needs to only shoot the ball when he is open catch and shoot or if he can drive it.
So the league has decided to ignore his 40+ percentage from last season and dare him to shoot it ? Good lord. Where do you people come up with this crap ??

Tarris is becoming a problem. I hope last nights performance gives Hurley the confidence to play Reibe more. Reed likes killer instinct, urgency, ability to realize that he CANNOT DRIBBLE, and his foul shooting is essentially a turnover.

I don’t know why but he seems to be loafing through what could have been a career making season for him. It’s very odd.
Right. KenPom's MVP for the game "is a problem". Absolutely incredible

Tarris shot terribly from the ft line but he had 19 points, 8-9 fg's, 6 rebs, 4 blocks, 1 turnover and huge plays down the stretch.

This place is ridiculous.
"Ridiculous" is being quite generous

You do realize UConn already played Arizona, without Reed or Mullins and had the lead with under 2 minutes to go. AZ also just beat BYU by a whopping 3 points - a team UConn led by 20 at one point. The idea that AZ is "playing at a different level" is delusional
Did you actually watch the Arizona/BYU game or did you just look at the final score? The game looked like and played out very similar to UConn vs BYU except on BYU's homecourt.

We beat BYU by 2 on a neutral site. They beat BYU on the road. BYI is the #13 ranked team in the country. These are their margins of victory in their last 11 games: 97-68 against the 20th ranked team; 96-75 against the 12th ranked team; 96-62, 99-71, 97-78, 101-76, 89-82, 84-77, 77-51, 88-53 and 86-83. I am not sure the stats back you up my friend. And yes, I was aware that we almost beat the #1 team in the country without two of our starters. I watch all the games too!

Yes, this is happening every single game. Literally. He's open because in a 21 game sample, he's proven to be a 28% 3-point shooter. This isn't that complicated.

His wrist is hurt. He can't shoot. He needs to change his mentality surrounding his shooting ability if this team is going to reach its ceiling. Over 1/4 of our shots coming from a high volume, low % gunner is not winning basketball. Period.

Ah, so now Arizona and BYU magically played worse against UConn and I guess UConn had nothing to do with that or something. Whatever.

LOL! Sure. SURE

You're completely missing the point but this it the boneyeard so no surprise, you brought up UConn leading by 20 half vs BYU in the 2nd half but don't mention that Arizona lead by 19 in the 2nd half. You made it seem like UConn had a far easier time vs BYU when both UConn vs BYU and Arizona vs BYU damn near played out exactly the same. Both Arizona and UConn had big leads before BYU made late rallies that came up short.

Also telling is his Eric needs to play more. As the guys on spaces correctly nailed last night, I don’t care what Reed’s stat line says (it usually looks good). He leaves a lot of “meat on the bone” with missed defensive assignments, non rebounding, missed free throws, and bad decisions (picking up an early 3rd foul).
100% disagree. Reibe is a worse foul shooter, worse defender and worse rebounder. Stats don’t lie. I’m okay with the current rotation.

I would love to see Jaylin Stewart take over a game one of these days. He had 1 game last year where he went nuclear.
Nuclear? He had 16 in a loss to Memphis, 16 against a cupcake, and 15 against DePaul, and 14 each in losses to Nova and GTown. So basically, when he had big scoring games, we lost. I like Stew, but this board's view of him as some sort of restrained offensive weapon is just bizarre.

It might of been some slight revisionist history. It was the game against Depaul that i was thinking of after looking it up.

To be fair, when your averaging 5 pts per game, dropping 16 is going nuclear imo lol.

Yeah, Stewart is good role player that works best when the others around him are great like the 2024 team. I was hoping he would become a similar type of player to Dailyn Swain on Texas (on Xavier the prior 2 years), but I don't see that happening. He has some good plays here and there and some games where he plays well, but it's not consistent and really cannot be relied upon.

It about tempo and efficiency. Unlike, say the 2024 team we aren’t very efficient and with a slow pace, we produce (generally) lower scoring games, giving teams a chance to stay with us. The argument (and I’m not the one making it) is that a faster tempo might be better for this team
