Good idea.
The closing is a pilot effort to enhance safety and help to make the area friendlier to walkers and bicyclists in the foot-traffic-heavy center of campus

I’m not sure about it, but then again I wasn’t sure about the closing of Fairfield Way and that worked out pretty well. I’m curious how they will manage allowing the buses to take it while also allowing bikes and skateboarders etc. I almost think you need to have a designated section for bikes and scooters etc. so that the buses don’t need to worry about them being in the bus lanes. (For what it’s worth I know someone who was a bus driver at UConn as a student. Visability in front of the bus is notoriously limited and she did in fact hit somebody on one occasion. Nothing was hurt other than his pride a bit.)
I think the larger plan is actually to close all of Hilltop Road to everyone but university buses. It will be interesting to see how this trial works out.
