Only way that UConn has a chance at a #1 Seed is to beat both South Carolina and Tennessee. Then go undefeated in Big East Conference play.

I gave you a "like", but understand a lot depends on what the other team do. This isn't the end of the world as we know it (to coin a phrase). Remember, the boys won it all as a 7th seed. So, a 1 seed or a 2 seed doesn't matter all that much. You still need to beat all of the top teams sooner or later if you want an NC.

Regardless of what other teams do, UConn's record against likely 1-2-3 seeds is currently 0-2. It is near impossible to get a top seed when you have 0 wins against other top teams.

Skeet’s; thank you but I only mentioned seeding never said anything about winning. They can still win the tournament. That will come down to factors at the time of each game. Even though the women’s tournament doesn’t have as many upsets as the men’s tournament they do take place. Then factor in the team that they have to face per round. How do they match up? Injuries as well. Will our team be healthy? What I do see is that Geno will go 9 deep. When Aubrey finally gets a green light to play then it will extend to 10. That is unless Morgan stops trying to get better. Sadly, Allie and Q are stuck in a numbers game. Caroline will not see action. And, Ayanna is done for a second season.

We look like a second 5 team. I definitely put us ahead of Maryland and Duke, but behind UCLA, SC, ND, USC, and probably Texas.

We need either vastly improved post play or a fully healthy Azzi to be a truly elite (top-5) team.

the ignored point I made in the game thread ...among other reasons being a formatting issue...still holds...and I don't think "vastly improved post play" was...is...a factor at all. Sure, would be nice!

Our kids thought they were in a nice. polite croquet tourney and were set up to win style points and perhaps, even the game...

In the ND game, that approach was exposed for the entire evening (afternoon?)
Last night, we were smacked around again, similarly throughout the first half.

Either the coaches were able to convey or the players themselves figured out
what the nature of this exhibition was, the gloves came off; niceties were exercised, there was a realization about the nature of the contest they were in and.... they almost pulled off a victory from a significant deficit; points and attitude.

It had absolutely nothing to do with improved or lack of post play...for the most part, the two were glued to the bench while Geno played small and aggressive.
As noted in a different thread, our young Egyptian lass had a decent +/- for not the first time....whether that has any real life meaning is a question.

This teams prospects (at a least at this juncture) do not rely on excellent post play

There are a number of teams that I view as suspect, specifically LSU, TN, MD. With the P4 conference schedules just getting started, there will be a number of upsets. A UConn team with 2 or 3 losses could still be a #1 seed, depending on what happens with the other top teams from here on out.

I'm not sure I would put Tennessee in the suspect bracket...They look pretty good to me.

Perhaps under-rated.

So far this season the LV’s have beaten 9 cupcakes, along with an unranked FSU team at home by 2 and a slow, overrated Iowa team, playing without their pg.

They have a couple more games vs overmatched opponents and then head into the meat grinder with games against OK, LSU (2), SC, UConn, etc. After they run that gauntlet, we’ll know if they’re for real or not.

Based on what I have seen so far this season, in my opinion UConn is a 2 seed and should be ranked at about 6th or 7th. This will change, of course, as the season plays out.

I think I’m higher on the Vols than you are but I largely agree, the real test is January when they face a brutal schedule. I fear their helter skelter style of play will be largely ineffective against any team that has composed point guard play and comparable athleticism. Talaysia Cooper is phenomenal though.
