Poll on NC State arrival and departure.

For those at the game, who were in their seats for Kickoff AND stayed to the end?

I got to my seat late as the group I was with was a little slow with the program, but I went to the band section and waited until end and sung the fight song. I wish more of our fans win or lose would go to that section and partake in this college football tradition.

His strawman is right though Jimmy. The fans coming and going, and when, is not the problem for this football program. The athletic department, is in year 1, of demonstrating the ability to actually be managing a major college football program, when it comes to priorities, and ticket sales and such, and they're pushing that football program as best as they can, which goes to problem #2, that team has a record of 6-8 over 18 months, and has lost more games at home than we've lost at home in a long time....and in spite of that, we still have 35,000+ showing up.

I agree with both you and Waquoit in that I don't think it's a big problem. Not on my top 100 things that I worry about in terms of UConn football.

I responding to W being a and putting words in my mouth.

I would go out on a limb and say that most don't know the fight song, which is why this doesn't happen!

I can actually somewhat understand fans leaving early--a blowout--bad weather or severe cold---traffic fears (even if unfounded). Even at Michigan fans left early. What I can't fathom are the empty seats at kickoff. It sets a terrible tone, disrespects the team, the band, the entire pregame spectacle, and makes us look like bush leaguers to the TV viewing public. Instead of worrying about blue-outs and having vendors leave shirts on the seats--how about some blow up dolls. At least we'll appear to have fans interested enough to be there on time.

gotta love that 10-0 is a blowout. Literally took one play to put us back in it which is exactly what happened.

What's really sad is how much of a blowout it felt like.

Reading the poll the first thing that sticks out is that no one on the Boneyard has any shame but we already knew that. Blow up dolls vs windy day could be a bad idea. As far as attendence right now we are getting 35,000 with the 6-8 record but we really have no known big time offensive playmakers that folks who are casual fans are drawn to see. No offense to Lyle and Nick who have had their moments. NC State really did a good job of limiting what Nick could do in the return game which was a big reason they won. The team seems to feed off his energy and they prevented that. The playmakers may show themselves by the end of the season but it looks like we are going to be in dogfights each week and so the error prone ways of our offense have to be corrected.

They were able to take Nick out of the return game by giving their punter extra time to release and kick the ball, thus allowing their guys to get far downfield. Only late in the game did we apply any real pressure on the punter. The UMass film didn't lie. They had to neutralize Nick and found a way to do it. We simply never responded to their parry with a thrust.
