Point Guard Situaton

Nowell was available to play last night.

And the reality is that none of us really know what he brings to the table. Everyone is banking on a recruiting ranking.

Just going off of what Hurley said before the game, that Diarra needs 6-8 weeks if he sits out, coupled with how he looked last night...I'm not sure he plays again this year. Neal has good quickness for a big guy, but if Diarra is even remotely healthy there's no way Neal would have blown by him off the dribble for a dunk like that.

6-8 weeks will be needed to get him to 100%, or at least with my Husky Blue goggles that is how I interpreted Hurley's statement. Maybe a few weeks of rest gets Hassan better. We know this for sure, UConn should not need him this weekend for the Seton Hall game.

Let him rest as much as possible until tourney action and then shoot that knee up with an antiflammatory for one last Hassan run.

Not at all. What I said in response to your post was that Cam could operate effectively as a point guard if the situation dictated. Also, you comment that there’s not much Aiden can’t do, that Came could do. I completely disagree with that. Cam could crash both the offensive and defensive glass, drive to the hoop to score or draw fouls, create his own shot. Aiden can’t do any of this.

At least we have another year that Aiden can develop into. I think from an athletic standpoint, there isn't much that Cam did that Aiden can’t do. Agreed. I think it’s got to be Solo, let Diarra recover, give Mahaney 5 min each game to see if he’s serviceable based on that matchup (otherwise keep him at the 2 for the rest of his minutes), and start getting Nowell more reps once he’s healthy.

On second thought, just give the ball to Liam and get the hell out of the way. That works too.

Think this board is underrating how hard of a position PG is to play and how hard it is to find a big one that isn’t also an NBA prospect.

Maybe I’m wrong though and there were lots of 6’4 and up PGs in the portal last year. I don’t follow heavily.

I started diving into this the other day. So far it’s slimmm to find a 6’4” pg that gets to the line, shoots at a decent clip from 3, isn’t a senior, and not a major prospect. I’ve only really found pj haggerty from Memphis. I like Donavan dent of New Mexico, but he’s only 6’2”

Cam, with his extra two years of experience, used his knowledge of the game to put himself in good positions to score, defend, or rebound. With two extra years in college, Cam is heavier (and likely stronger), which supports rebounding and driving. If Aiden gets heavier and stronger to catch up to Cam said regard, all that separates them is their experience and headiness. With that, the rebounding and driving through contact can naturally follow.

Not to butt in but here it is.. Aiden can’t be cam by next season. Cams shot fakes and use of his body are so much better and he is definitely way stronger than Aiden. I think it’s more likely Aiden transfers out.

Thanks for looking into this. From checking with Memphis too the other starting guard is 6’ Hunter so I’m not even sure if PJ is the true PG.

Finding another big guard may not be the easy fix it seems on the surface. The biggest, most experienced guard we can find may actually be on the roster already.

You’re clueless. Go back to last year’s games and there are numerous examples of that. Aiden will never be anywhere near what Cam is. Like to wager a bet that Mahaney gets drafted in the next year or two?

Cam was an off guard but could play point. I have seen enough to know Aiden can’t play point.

Anyone else on the yard like to chime in?
