I still think being in a P5 conference is preferred....but being independent is better than the AAC or any other non P5 conference.

I think it is as long as you can schedule solid opponents, which UConn has been able to do. BYU won't be independent much longer but that kind of independent schedule or the kind UConn has is better than being in the WAC or Sun Belt or whatever.
