The philosophy on offense in the second half has to be shoot on the first open shot and if it is 5 seconds into the shot clock then so be it. What is the purpose of passing it around the parameter for 32 seconds just to force up a long range contested shot anyway. We are limiting our possessions and gaining nothing.
We don't look inside for anything so what's the point of passing up the open shot early.
This team is so challenged offensively that you might as well speed up the game and just shoot as quickly as possible.

That is when this team plays it's best when it just lets it fly, generally down 10-15 with 3 minutes left when they just run and gun.

That strategy will lead to a tired defense and a mentally defeated team as there would be a ton of one and done possession followed by playing tough physical defense for 30 seconds

As appose to what? They won't score 33 points at this pace.

I understand both posts - however at this point we need to take the first open shot available. They are scoring inside on us regardless. I would also pack in a zone and hope they miss some outside shots

4 for 22 field goals, RB 0-8, DHAM 0-4, getting out rebounded 19-9. Aren't winning many games with stats like those.

The problem is that we often are getting open looks and aren't taking them.

At one point, Calhoun had the ball with Nic Moore like 10 feet away. He passed it.

WHY? Nic Moore is a midget.

Running the shot clock out on every possession and playing great defense is a great strategy. Until.................you get down 14 points. We simply won't win if we don't start speeding up the offense. Purvis, Boat and Hamilton need to be driving the ball to the rack every fricken possession and get their bigs in foul trouble.

And like I said when have we played our best basketball this year. When we are down big with a few minutes left. Why? Because we don't think we just shoot.

Calhoun passes up open looks repeatedly! Catches with clear space and height on the defense and immediately puts head down and dribbles almost as if he doesn't want anyone to notice he was open.

More aggressiveness is required, but it just can't be run up and shoot. There has to be some effort to get a good look.
