They definitely won’t move a Thursday game to Wednesday. There is an off day on Friday, so that’s when the game would be made up. I’m not sure how last-minute the call would be made.
I understand that in the regular season it saves pitching staffs from those 15 inning games. In the post season getting a run the traditional way makes the test truer and less up to chance by using the old way. I agree with the way they’re doing it. They went to the 3 game wild card for a fairer truer test than just a 1 game elimination.
Was fine with ghost runner rule in the condensed pandemic season, don’t like it otherwise just expand the rosters.
It may be fairer for the wild card round but the LDS round now favors the Divisional winners even more. This could be case of pitcher attrition in the Divisional Series' games. Especially tough for San Diego who had to play 3 games and use all those pitchers.

I understand the point that it is fairer for divisional champs but as a fan I enjoyed the one game do or die format. I'm sure Saint Louis feels different about it that Cleveland fans however. It was already cold in some northern cities such as Cleveland so wondering how this extended season will affect the world series.
Or MLB not restrict roster makeup to limit number of pitchers.

You propose adding more pitchers to rosters? As it is now most teams carry 4 position players on their roster. One has to be a back up catcher. That might leave one or two position players on the bench. Get ready for pitchers playing the field.

I'm curious, why is that? I used to follow college baseball more, and have always just been a very casual Indians/Guardians fan, but there's certainly a fair amount of guys that do that in college. Obviously still not super common, but significantly more so than you see in the league.
Really good question. I've always just assumed that it's a testament to how hard it is to succeed at the major league level. So much attention has to be paid to either fielding/hitting or pitching or else you won't last. I bet many guys could do both at a somewhat mediocre level but teams would rather have specialists that do one thing extremely well. Also, shows why baseball folks are so enamored with Ohtani who can do both at all-star levels.
You have a majority of major league catchers who are great defensively but struggle to even hit .220 so in some regards you already have a level of mediocrity in position players.
