Players Entering Transfer Portal, As of March 2024

A lot of Colorado players. Is this the effect of moving conferences?
Fair question to ask, but when looking at who's leaving, I don't think so. Moving to the BIG12 may be seen as a drop, but at the same time what have these players done to show they can play in a P4 conference?

For example, I'm familiar with McLeod's game because she's from Ontario. While she's shown some potential, I can't see her in the ACC or SEC. The BIG10, maybe, but that still feels like a stretch.

It's not like their top players are bailing out. They do have a couple of #80ish recruits coming in. Who knows who they get via the portal. They used to be in the Big 8 so this isn't like the Arizona schools joining the Big 12.

Exactly. Didn't Formann announce she's returning? Not to mention one of Colorado's transfers is Deion Sanders' daughter. She was a walk on at Jackson State. Didn't play this season. It skews the overall situation.

Hmm. Memory serves she was around 50-60 in Hoopgurlz so a Top 100 recruit and I do remember she played for Hopkins HS and Tartan North AAU. Was Laila Phelia playing wing?
Maybe she saw how well the combination of Olivia Olsen and Syla Swords played together and figured the gig wa already up for next year.

Her one decent outing this year was against....Iowa (13 points)...so there's some talent there. I suspect she'll have some callers from her past recruiters.

From what I've watched Phelia has been their primary PG since last season. Not sure if I see her as a wing.

Not sure why she'd see Swords and Olson as threats to playing time. Saw Woodson as a 4, along with Evans. And with Cameron and Taylor Williams transferring out, I thought she'd get more opportunities to play.

Not that she played a lot, but Elise Struck hit the portal, too (they're about the same size).

Interesting, Phelia brought the ball up, but I thought Jordan Hobbs did as much facilitating -- in fact, she led the team in assists.
Hobbs would be a tad small as a 4, given she's listed as a 4, but I didn't see enough of her style of play to see if she could shift up there.
I'm assuming she wants to play wing and with Hobbs, Phelia coming back and Olsen and Swords coming in, who knows how she's looking at it

Michigan is always a head scratcher: just when you think they're in good shape personnel-wise, they seem to pull some sort of cha-cha.
We discussed assistant churn last year. Wonder if there's something else we're missing. Heck, the lost to Kansas in OT. With two excellent frosh coming in, you'd think the team would be on an upswing. Who knows?

OMG. Well, not really, as IMHO she needs to play somewhere that complements her strengths and will prep her for the WNBA.

It was shortsighted of her to go to LSU, so good for her to correct the mistake! Looks like she's taking her basketball career seriously. I wish her the best of luck.

Back to the ACC? (Syracuse, Stanford, and Virginia Tech come to mind) or Try out the B1G (too many to name, but if you can get to USC, then go for it!)?

She’d be a good replacement for Hannah Jump at Stanford, where I felt she should’ve gone to begin with.
Huh? Jump was a 3 point specialist. I think she did improve on other things, but still nearly 3/4 of her shots during her career were behind the arc. Van Lith is an entirely different kind of player.

Yeah I like it for her. Not to get too deep but I appreciate her journey. Life is all about trial and error and taking chances. No shame in something not going perfectly. Especially for such a young adult. As bandwagonny as it may have seemed, the flip side is, it was a championship or bust all eyes on you situation she entered at LSU which is pretty difficult. She really was forced to play the point guard. Ideally she would've learned how to get everyone involved. But I never loved their offense. They didn't play her and Poa together nearly as much as I thought they would. Anyways I'm sure she'll have someone mentioned Kentucky which I think is super interesting. I think and this is going to sound dumb but she has to develop as a shooter, and ball handler. I get she's not really a point but I felt she struggled bringing the ball up the court and then knocking down open baskets. Kenny Brooks is kinda been lauded as good at player development. I think Amoore and Hailey Van Lith athletically r completely different tho, with Amore being a bit more explosive

Where do we think she will end up? Baylor? Ohio St? Oregon St? She’s going to go somewhere where she can get a shot at a ring. LA schools have too many guards already. I don’t think she will end up at Stanford. It’s rare they accept transfers, much less graduate transfers.

Well, Cal needs a point guard. She'd get lots of playing time, could get a great graduate degree in any number of disciplines....

Let's not let one good regular season cloud our judgement - if anything, the Big 12 is a step up from the Pac 12's baseline.

Hailey follow Jeff Walz wherever he goes. Kansas St or Colorado.
This post makes zero sense. Kansas State and Colorado just had some of their bests seasons ever. Unless their coaches take a job someplace else, Jeff Walz isn't going to be going there. Also, at this point Louisville is a better job than either of those two programs.

They're going to miss her leadership on that roster. Initial guess is that this is grad school related, similar to Collins.
I'm surprised she gets a 6th year. I thought she played too many games to get the year she was injured back but I guess not.

Walz isn't going anywhere.

Not surprised to see Hailey Van Lith in the portal. Things didn't work well for her at LSU. I didn't understand why she left Louisville, the team was built to her strengths and she was the face of the program.

It's clear to me she isn't a PG but maybe under the right coach she could still show some growth. This year she struggled shooting and distributing the ball, but that was in part due to the LSU offense that was pretty much throw up shots and let Angel or Morrow get the rebouns for putbacks.
