I say Saban, Belichek, Dabo or Urban.
Why the 'or', lets make that an 'and'. Both have the same probability.

I’d have thought so about Freeze too had his current stop not been Liberty of all places, and there tends to be a short memory in CFB if the coach has a brand name (see Petrino). End of the day, these programs want winners and revenue generators and Freeze ticks both boxes. That said, don’t think we’d offer more because he’ll want money we just wouldn’t pay.Skies I like your list of up and comers but I think Freeze's behavior while at Ole Miss would exclude him from any consideration.

Why would we want to fire him now? Recruiting has improved over the last two seasons. He deserves a chance to show the results on field next year. I think we will surprise.Ball’s in our court on that front. Buyout is $0 and there is no reason to go another offseason without change. We’ve hit Randy’s ceiling here, which ended up being the floor
Ok. I'm trying to be optimistic about 2021 without being foolish (Lucy won't move the football on me again, will she?). What are "the results" required in wins to keep him and what do you think the upside "surprise" results might be (assuming they are 2 different numbers)? This will be year 5 (4 playing years) so these are his guys. Why would we want to fire him now? Recruiting has improved over the last two seasons. Randy isn’t going anywhere. His recruiting class 2 seasons ago was outstanding as many true freshman played really well. Last years class we don’t know about because we didn’t play but it looks like they have a bunch of impact players as well.Is Randy really leaving?
Outstanding isn’t a word I would use to describe anything Randy has done in his second tenure here. I’m not rooting against him and I would love for these kids to A) stay with the program and B) see success on the field. I’m just being realistic based on what he has given us over these brutal last few years. He’s taken little to no accountability and has approached this job with an arrogance and resistance to change that makes it hard for me to believe that anything will be different in ‘21. Really hope I’m wrong.Randy isn’t going anywhere. His recruiting class 2 seasons ago was outstanding as many true freshman played really well. I can't give you a number, I don't l know enough about who we're playing. But we'll know if we're on the right track when we see it, kinda like pornography. What are "the results" required in wins to keep him and what do you think the upside "surprise" results might be (assuming they are 2 different numbers)?
Kinda seems like you are.I’m not rooting against him.
Don’t be lazy and cherrypick. Read the rest of the post, have a look into the last 4 years while you’re at it, and let me know where I’m wrong. It is beyond comprehension that you people still run to this guy’s defense with nothing to show for itKinda seems like you are.
I did. The rest of the post + creating a thread titled, "Plausible Hires," sort of speaks for itself.Don’t be lazy and cherrypick. Talking about logical, affordable hires isn’t rooting against the incumbent. It’s looking at the abysmal body of work he’s put together in his second tenure and discussing replacements who very likely would do great work in rebuilding this program to some semblance of respectability. Would I love it if Edsall shocked the world and put a competitive, even winning team on the field next year? 100%. Is there any reason to believe that’s going to happen based on what he’s delivered thus far? Almost certainly no.I did. Also, simply making an observation does not mean that I am running to Edsall's defense. Sometimes, it's simply making an observation.

He turned down Auburn which has virtually unlimited resources for football to come to UConn which will pay him marginally more than he's making now? Here is a name:
Billy Napier, Louisiana
He is 27-11 as head coach.

Maybe in year one or two, but he is at the end of year 4 and per the AD hasn't done a good enough job to warrant an extension (or he would have one). How many coaches with initial 5 year contracts go into their final year without either being fired or extended, probably not many.Whatever floats your boat, but to me, proposing coaches to replace an incumbent, while the incumbent still occupies the position seems to be awfully similar to rooting for the incumbent to no longer occupy the position in favor of the proposed replacements.

I must have missed the speculation of another practice year in 2021. Particularly considering the vaccines will mostlikely filter down to use peons by then.Maybe in year one or two, but he is at the end of year 4 and per the AD hasn't done a good enough job to warrant an extension (or he would have one). HCRE2.0 could be extended, but since it hasn't been done to date even a slow moving AD would have to have a list for "what if HCRE2.0 has another bad (assuming you can classify year 1 to 3 as bad) year" results wise.
Not sure how you judge HCRE2.0 if UConn decides to have another practice year in 2021, although I've heard that he's a hell of a practice coach.
We can only hopeIs Randy really leaving?
