At least this year none of us have to struggle with whether to put Pitt in the final four in our brackets.

Thanks Pitt for not ruining any brackets this year. :D

Maybe this is the year they will make a final four. :)

Hard to imagine that last year's team was one play away from contending for a national title.

Don't they pick the teams by calling and begging you to play? I think I'd rather not play in any post season game than the CBI...

If I were a mid-major, or a really young team (like 2006-07 UConn team), I would probably play in it. Otherwise, no thank you.

I'm surprised Pitt accepted.

The CBI is a play-to-pay tournament. If I recall correctly, the fee is $60,000 to take part. Here's a link to this year's bracket:

Don't understand why Pitt would play in this, especially pay to play. Its not like they're an inexperienced team, if I'm an Ashton Gibbs or Nasir Robinson that has been in the tourney every year of your career I wouldn't give a about playing in this.

If I'm a senior I'd take any opportunity I could get to extend my career for one more game, Wofford or no Wofford.

agreed. these kids only get one college career. There is no reason not to extend it as long as possible.

As a fan, I feel the same way. After their next loss, a couple of these kids will never wear a UConn jersey again. I would want to see as much of them as possible before they hung it up. If it was UConn, I wouldn't care if our opponents were Central, Sacred Heart and Hartford. If there was more basketball to be played, I would want them to play it.

I'd sign up for the CBI in a heartbeat if I was in their shoes. Hell the worst case scenario is you just get one more loss. Not taking a bowl bid, a CBI bid, or a NIT bid is just pure hubris.

Since the NIT is owned by the NCAA it's been less about filling the MSG and even TV ratings... so teams like St. John's who would have been a shoe in or power conference teams like Pitt are far less likely to make it.

I agree. If I was a senior I would want to keep going for as long as possible.
