I really liked this song when it first came out, but then it was co-opted to fit the needs of too many. Still a great song, but its meaning was lost along the way.

I agree. It got swallowed in another narrative.

The singer Dave Loggins is the man from Tennessee and she said come home - she's his number 1 fan. It's autobiographical.
