Pick this year's DREAM TEAM, player by player...

I guess this is the absurdity of Fan Message Boards, arguing with Duke fans on a UConn Board about an imaginary team and player who has yet to play a College BB Game.
Word it however you want.

He made the rules... so how are they invalid ?

chrissaran:"Your rules are invalid. To say that two players can't come from the say team makes this exercise futile."

Really. Thanks for the 'D,' triaddukefan. My silly idea was to ask UConn fans, who this question was directed to and who must make up about 99% of the respondents, to pick players OTHER than their own beloved Huskies. And show their vast knowledge of all the other great basketball players who do exist outside the Storrs universe. To maybe lose, for just a few moments, that insane fanaticism (of which I am guilty, too) and try to be objective. Even for hypotheticals, impartiality isn't impossible.

Only to participate because I can't imagine how either Stewie or MoJeff could be left off of the team, I would say:

MoJeff, Tiffany Mitchell, Stevens, Davis and Turner.

It's too early to be picking Salvadores (although I think she will be a star), DD (although I think that she will score basically at will until she faces the very top teams) or Collier (although I think that she will be better that either one of the other two).

I wonder if even one coach nationally could pick this team without including both Stewart and Jefferson?

Pick any ten players you want, pick any coach you want, give them a month to practice together, match them up against the Huskies and they will get their butts kicked.

Let's add meaning to the game, like a championship is on the line. UConn is pretty good at winning those games.

now that was cold blooded

I might have to hit the report button for that post

Well since this could be proven, I'll say this years gamecocks.

Well, good luck with that. Your team's chances will be better in Columbia in Feb than on a neutral court in April with a championship on the line. I'm sure SC will be highly motivated for revenge after last season's drubbing in Storrs.

I will state this again with the expectation that many Boneyarders will disagree... "Morgan Tuck will be the second best player on UCONN this season and possibly the second best in WBB."

Absolutely correct...the very day Moriah leaves the team and joins the Peace Corp.

Great clip! NO WCBB program has produced teams that pass as efficiently and share the ball as unselfishly as UConn. Has any team (UConn or otherwise) ever had all 5 starters with at least 100 assists in the same season? That's pretty incredible. (Stewie- 122, K- 104, Tuck- 115, Moriah-191, Kia-108)

I don't think so. The 2010-2011 UConn team had 5 players with +100 assists but one -- Lorin Dixon -- was not a starter.

Maya 151
Kelly 142
Tiff 139
Bria 110
Lorin 106

Yep. Extremely hard worker on the boards.
I think that it's really cool for her to recognition. Even just on a Women's basketball page. She played her HS at Natrona County HS in Casper, Wyoming. I'm also so from Wyoming so I just think it's neat to hear her name being brought up :)

who is that ?
OK - I totally forgot that I had chosen that quote as my signature line - so you can see it accurately at the bottom of this post. 11/15/13 was the night of the game at Maryland when Uconn was missing KML and Tuck so only had a roster of 7. Bria Hartley was 4-21 and 0-11 on threes in the game so I assume it was her, but I cannot at this time find the quote in context. I will defer to Hoopsdiva's memory which appears to be correct.

This game was also memorable for the following quote:
"I said this all along: They went from nine All-Americans to seven," Frese said. "If they lose a couple more, Geno might have to coach like the rest of us."

Not one of the most gracious of comments, and a nightmare scenario for a Uconn fan - Geno suddenly coaching a team like Frese does!:cool:

Great game. Thank you. My dream team is:
PG: Kelsie Mitchell (Ohio State)
SG: Tiffany Mitchell (S. Carolina)
Forwards: Stewart (UConn) Stevens (Duke)
Center: Adut Bulgak (Florida State)

It is tough not having MoJeff as my PG but I wanted Stewie! So I am going with a dynamic, offensive-minded Mitchell & Mitchell backcourt both of whom are big game, clutch players. To offset the loss of MoJeff's defense, I picked a big versatile, frontline who can score, rebound and has a couple of noted defensive stoppers .

I understand the premise of this topic, but deep down I cannot dream of ANY starting 5 as dream worthy than our UCONN 5-
Stewart, SF/Nurse, SG/Tuck, PF/MoJeff, PG/Butler, C! That can get the typical Husky fanatic drooling! I honestly can't think of ANY other 5 players that can hold a candle to each of them! Even in fantasy!

I agree that UConn roster is formidable. Playing devil's advocate, I was wondering how would this UConn squad fair against a dream team being coached by Coach Geno? How much is it talent or great coaching if you had to put a percentage on it?

Your getting into the famous line from Coach Bum Phillips 'He can take his'n and beat your'n and take your'n and beat his'n' A statement he made about both Shula and Bryant.

Considering that the Uconn team has the best player in WCBB in Stewart, and the best PG in WCBB in Jefferson as well as a player who 'outplayed' both of them this summer in Kia, and another AA quality player in Tuck, it really would be hard to come up with a stronger roster for the 'other team'. Give Uconn Muffet or Tara on the bench to go against Geno's all star team and it would be a heck of a contest.
