I don't know. @Cougar Hippy said that their coach has something called a "next man up" philosophy, which apparently means that he replaces injured players with healthy players. I had no idea - someone should tell Coach Diaco that he doesn't have to continue to play shorthanded any more. We probably only beat Tulane 7-3 because we played with 3 healthy guys, 6 cones and 2 open positions.

Diaco has only said as have his players "Next man up" as well.

I think UConn's saying is "next man cup." It's a team building exercise where every player exchanges his jock strap with another player and wears his cup. It also doesn't let anyone get too comfortable.

It is far superior to Houston's "next man up" saying.

To be fair to CougarHippy it means "to be prepared at any time" ... kind of like keeping a rubber in your wallet ... you just never know ...

The question is less than 2 days from beating Houston, DO WE LIKE US AGAINST HOUSTON?

Does anyone have more information on this "next man up" strategy? It sounds promising. I think we could win more games if we switch to it.
Maybe if you "Do You Job," you would have a better understanding of what, "Next Man Up," meant.

I thought it was "next man's sup", as in "I eat your dinner".. kind of like "I drink your milkshake". "Next man cup" is, frankly, I little disturbing.

I am obviously not the right kind of guy for this job you speak of.

This is the quintessential trap game for Houston against a home team that is playing for bowl eligibility.

I wouldn't touch this but I wouldn't be shocked if we indeed pull this off.

I lean slightly to pessimist side, but I agree with Phil. A UConn win here would not be shocking. There are several factors in our favor.

I thought it was "best stand up" which helps assure that no one is sitting down on the job.

Yes, but think about that. A 10-0, Top 15 team is coming in here and many think a UConn win would not be shocking. They go from last year to this point and some say we can't call this year a success. Having this game be this important is better than what I considered a best-case scenario pre-season.
