Great article from the Courant on strength coach Travis Illian. In the artcile, a couple of paragraphs down, it talks about Phil going 214 last year up to 237 this year. Maybe the stats are a little inflated, but I personally believe that it's possible, and if it is, I'm incredibly excited. I love hearing about things like this, because it just shows how well rounded our program and staff are!

I remember Hilton Armstrong putting on a ton of weight one summer. That had some pretty good results.

Even Phil's freshman year when he was realll skinny he had some broad shoulders that showed potential for mass. Looks pretty thick in the above photo

I hope Amida, once he's healed up, bulks up like PN has. That could be a powerful combination in the 2015-2016 season.

Ollie must of had him watch a loop of the uk game with his possessions. Only a dead man wouldn't be motivated to bulk up.

Plus uk had some monster bigs, which probably helped made Phil get busy.

I wonder what the coach's belief is regarding doing significant weight training during the season? Anyone with any idea? If he's gained that much weight in the off season, why not during the season? Just too little time or energy left?

Cardio kills gains in the weight room. It's incredibly difficult to put on muscle during the season, in fact most players likely lose weight/muscle mass over the course of the season. Coach Travis probably has them put on weight over the summer then taper over the course of the season

Amira definitely needs to put on some weight but he'll be capped by a pretty slight frame. PN had the ability to carry quite a bit extra.
