On the ride home from work I heard the Empire State Building is lit up in tie-dye colors for Phil. Nice gesture on their part.*

* A coworker came to my firm from ESRT (Empire State Regional Trust, a real estate holdings company/property management firm that among other assets owns the Empire State Building). Allegedly the guy who runs the firm is a huge Dead fan. I'll take this as evidence that he is.

4/18/82. Anniversary of the '06 SF quake. Indeed! I was there, first memory I shared yesterday. Rewatched the video. Not aware if it was ever repeated. Searching for the Sound is a good read. RIP.

I was surprised by a number of friends I knew to not be Deadheads or listeners who posted heartfelt memories & impressions of Phil. I've never seen so many like that before.

8/9/98 they played it as their encore to commemorate Jerry Garcia's passing three years earlier.

I was at Merriweather the night before, but was not at this show. I couldn't take the time off to get down to VA Beach on time. I did however use a bunch of time off to make the trip up to Maine the following weekend for Lemonwheel.
