First, I think canning P and GDL was the right thing to do. The team and program were approaching free fall and there was nothing to gain by letting that continue.

TJ has an enormous challenge. He is trying to remake an offense mid-season and, if reports are to be believed, revamp an OL and running scheme that P and GDL spent the last three seasons duck*ing up. He's given the nod to a true frosh QB who will take his first collegiate snap on Sat. He inherits a defense that is not nearly as talented as it was last season. He's under-staffed and he has no head coaching experience.

If this team wins 3 or 4 of the remaining games and the recruiting class largely holds together, that's great work in my opinion. In fact, I think it's terrific work.

I hope folks realize that we are in no way out of the woods and supporting this team now may take more patience.

Canning Coach P & GDL is addition by subtraction. The team is vastly improved by this move alone. T.J. was hired to call plays. He may have called them only to be ignored by P. In the last week he's already changed the face of the team by replacing Widmer with Boyle. Face it, Boyle was recruited to be the next Dan O. Widmer was a stopgap due to lack of a serviceable qb on campus. It'w time to move on & play the best players at each position.

It's obvious that P had lost this team mentally. Not having P and GDL on the sidelines alone will significantly positively impact the players for the USF game. The trick will be to keep the momentum going after the USF game.

Warde making the move after four games was a bold statement. Total failure will not be tolerated at UConn. At SU GROB got four full years. UConn will not stand for that type failure. 'have to get this hire right. If TJ proves to be the guy, great. Just knowing we have separated from the PGDL era, is a small consolation for this season.

Yes, patience is needed. It will take a while to dig out from the PP/GDL era and their backwards mentalities. The first step in putting this program back on the forward track was made by Warde and now it's on us fans to rally behind the team. Many of us, including me, have probably already written this season as lost. What I want to see for the rest of the year:

1. best players on the 2-deep, even if they are FR. Let's see what we have for 2014 and give some guys much needed game experience heading into spring ball and next season;
2. playcalling improvement. Now that we are 100% positively, absolutely, no question about it guaranteed that the overly-conservative PP and GDL are not overriding TJW's plays, let's see a more aggressive style. Go for it on 4th downs? Yup. Take a few shots down field on 2nd or 3rd and short? Absolutely. Not turtle when we have a lead? Hells yes;
3. energy. I'm so sick of seeing the visitor's sideline full of energy, dancing around and completely engaged in the game and seeing the home team sideline standing around, watching the kiss cam, and lifeless. If we are going to lose, it better be while swinging and not what we saw in the Towson and Buffalo losses;
4. re-establish Rentschler Field as a tough place to play. We've played 3 home games this year and lost them all. We've lost to Temple, Western Michigan, Iowa State, and NC State at home. We've lost way too many winnable games at home in the PP/GDL era and this has to stop starting with USF;
