I was looking at the Pop a Shot website thinking about getting an arcade basketball type of thing at home. They have several colleges that have licensing deals with them and you can just buy Pop a Shots with their logos on the backboard. UConn isn't one of those though. :(

To be able to get one with a UConn logo, I would need written permission to do so. I'm thinking this is quite a long shot, but does anyone know who I would reach out to at the school for that? Any chance they'd say okay to something like that? It's obviously for personal use. It's not to make money or use in public or anything.

Or maybe the Stars of Storrs logo could be a backup plan. They could be easier to get a hold of. Or super backup plan I could use a picture of my sister's pet husky. It's somewhere in the ballpark.

Just make it yourself - there's no legalities about using something for your personal use at home - no one is suing you over a home basketball hoop.
I'm not a copyright lawyer but I assume if you're doing this for yourself and not selling them to make money you don't need UConn's approval.

Not sure. If you’re using a service to put the logo on a product they have no idea if you’re going to sell it or not and they usually won’t print copyrighted logos. I’ve tried to have t shirts made for gifts from sites like Custom Ink and they’ve called me directly to not allow it.

lol I’m sure no one cares I buy $15 custom pillow cases from Amazon with UConn logos. except maybe my wife

You're right. I misunderstood the OP. I thought he was going to buy one and put his own UConn logo on there. The place that makes them would definitely need licensing approval from UConn. But they're obviously not going to do this for one sale.

So @NowInStorrs I think your best bet is to get Pop a Shot to add UConn to their stable of schools. They have 31 schools, including Bradley and Illinois State, so I don't think it would be a hard sell to get them to add UConn. It is the Basketball Capital of the World after all. :)

Pop a Shot's e-mail address: popashot@popashot.net

If you want to ask Kyle Muncy if he's ever been asked by Pop a Shot you can e-mail him at kyle.muncy@uconn.edu. His phone number is 860-486-9097.

Good luck and let us know what happens.

It still amazes when I see our logo being unavailable for basketball themed items online while teams like Bradley are. It makes no sense to me. I was looking for padding to put around the pole on my outdoor hoop and our logo wasn’t available while some truly random schools were.

I could never find any UConn licensed gear I liked so I searched for licensed UConn iron on patches. It took me a while to find a website that does them in a high quality but now I turn anything I want into UConn gear. Did my favorite Carhartt jacket and a few shirts last hoops season.
