OT: Perhaps the greatest obituary of all time

A friend called me one day and asked me how I was feeling. I said fine and asked why?. He said check out page 27 in the paper and sure enough there was a big freaking obit with my name on it. The weird part was it had several of the same family member names and the guy lived like maybe 15 minutes away from where I do.

I daily look at the obits online for my area, and I am always amazed that many times, the longer obits with the professional accomplishments and accolades for the deceased persons, have only a few condolence replies.

When I see the obits for people I grew up with or went to school with, it makes me glad my name isn't there yet.

The older you get, the more people you know, will make the page.

It amazes me when an ex-spouse, is not mentioned where the obit lists the death of a woman who is a mother and omits the name of the father of the children. The obit mentions her children and grandchildren and their spouses if any, but in many cases, not the name of the father of her own children. I guess they were divorced. If so, there must have been bitter feelings there, but the surviving ex-spouse was still the father of the children so why not mention him? And, if he dies before her, why not state that?

Well, maybe the kids blamed him for the divorce or for abusing their mother. IDK.

Interesting to see a high school teacher who you had forgotten about, and then you see he or she lived to 100. The obits online now show celebrities who have passed away.
