Except that even from different angles, you can see that Maya's body and feet look very different from Novak's. Novak's body is perfectly straight and square to the basket, while Maya is not. Also Maya's feet are not together and are pointing at an angle to the basket. This Maya shot looks a bit like one that she had to rush a little bit.Reminds me of this kid:
Yeah, Steve's form really is picture perfect. That may not be the best picture of Maya, but her form is the best in the women's game, in my view.Except that even from different angles, you can see that Maya's body and feet look very different from Novak's. Novak was just on with Francesa and talked about getting his feet set as the most important part of the shot, something other great shooters have said as well.
Actually, he is not square to the basket nor should he be. The shoulder of the shooting hand should always be slightly forward on the shot line enabling the elbow and line of sight to be able to approach lying along the same line. Because of the width and separation of the shoulders makes it impossible to properly have the elbow under the ball on the shot line if the shoulders are square (perpendicular) to the shot line. The angle of Maya's and Novak's shots in the photos distorts that. I, also, suspect Maya's shot was not a spot up shot as Novak's was.Except that even from different angles, you can see that Maya's body and feet look very different from Novak's.
