I don't think you have a credible source with this article. Looks like the author needs to do fact checking from thier own website. The bonus is $50K not $500K.
"and bonuses of at least $50,000 for each win in the Big Dance."

and here:
"
Each NCAA tournament victory nets Stringer additional bonus compensation:
• $50,000 for winning the second round game"

Well they ought to make it $500K if she beat UCONN. Just sayin'

Yes, but ...maybe there's some fine print that adds: however, if that win is against UConn, the bonus increases to $500,000. :D

Perhaps I erred in using that source...it certainly caught my attention. Thanks for the additional insight. One that is true whether 50k or 500k, is that the students won't get any extra for winning.

No the mistake was mine for not reading down far enough. She does have $500K riding on a win tonight or any other year that she's under contract.
Coaches salaries need to be discussed for WCBB. Stringer got $53.00 for every fan that came to a Rutgers game this year.

$50k , $500k , $1M,......It's all the same. Bottom line she will not be collecting. Just her rotten luck to be running into Geno on this night. Both are on a mission but Geno's seem more attainable tonight. At least I hope so.

I have nothing against CVS , as a matter of fact I like her and think she is a good coach. No , a great coach. You don't get that many W's as she has just by being merely good. And I hope she is happy with her victory total as it stands because it will not increase tonight. And as far as the $50k , $500k , or whatever.....You can't miss what you never had..... Maybe she can collect it next year.

She is one of the top 25 people active in her profession and has been for a very long time. And while Rutgers WCBB program may not be making money, I bet it isn't losing as much money as their MCBB or Football program are (or have in the last 10 years.) She is a good face for an Athletic program that has a lot of tarnish on it.

Just wow!
Vivian is doing a good job of starting the dialogue herself. her latest:
" I'm saying to you period: My pay has been cut in half," Stringer said. "So let's not get it twisted. When you're talking about that, Vivian is trying to earn her way back. I would have to win a god-darn championship to get the money that I was getting before. So it bothers me because I'm just trying to win a basketball game. That's all I'm trying to do."

I wouldn't say she is starting the dialogue herself. There has been a lot of coverage of her contract in the NJ press, and the $500,000 bonus has garnered more than one article since the tournament started. I am certain she was responding to a question from reporters as well.

At the end of the day, CVS took a pay cut (which was fair, to be honest), but her agent was smart and basically added $125,000 to her contract per year if she gets to the Sweet 16 just once.

I say she should pick her room and bed at the Home for the Sisters of the Poor on the Raritan River.

Good for her! I think this coaches vs. players comparison is just crap. This is a professional who has been plying her trade for 40 years in a pretty competitive environment vs. kids who are still learning how to play and trying to get an education and build a resume for future employment opportunities - and they are receiving $50K +/- in compensation while they do it. What is the starting salary for a college graduate or more closely comparable a HS graduate with a little college but no degree? And what did Shea earn as an assistant coach at Pitt her first few years? Or what does the HC at Tufts earn?

Actually, it is WHAT you've got to look at.
