Per ESPN McNeeley is going pro

I don't really know what his long term Husky legacy will turn out to be. He missed 5 weeks. He had flashes of brilliance before and after, but he also really looked like a freshman at other times. He didn't have a necessarily "memorable" final few weeks.

I enjoyed watching him. Talented kid for sure, with a good hard nose for the game. No doubt he's going to be drafted high enough to never merit returning for another season, but I feel like his time here will turn out to be "meh" as years pass.

Rooting hard for Liam - he was a great get in recruiting and he fit us great. Unfortunately our overall roster wasn’t quite there, but he was very good, if inconsistent. I expect him to keep going up!

I'm interested where he will be drafted as though he showed spurts of greatness he had issues too. His ability to shoot from the outside, drive and score wasn't top level while his defense wasn't good. He has skills but not sure how NBA GM's will see him at the next level. I guess i see him more in the 15-25 range now. It would of been nice to see him come back and work on some of his defiencies but with all that money staring him in he face for being a first round pick I understand why he left.

Bad decision but expected
Lmaoo this is the best decision he could have taken. He gets to start maximizing his earning at age 19 and gets to solely focus on basketball. I would even say its the best decision for the program as well. Him coming back for a second year would have given other programs a lot of ammo to negatively recruit against us.

Probably played into Jaylin returning
Yeah now I see Jaylin definitely starting which is nice as I like to see more athletic starting 5 this year.

He is saying that if he had to come back that UConn isn't a good school to develop your NBA future. Kids want to be 1 and done if potential lottery picks and if they don't that will be used against the school whether true.
What if he ended up a top 10 pick after next year?

Well that could use it against us saying if you come here you will be top 10 after 1 year instead of 2. It is probably the best decision for McNeeley even if he showed some warts in his game this year. He still has a lot of potential and I'm sure his ankle injury could be used to reason why he didn't play well more consistently when he came back mid season.

Today is "National Don't Believe Anything You Read on the Internet" Day, but this seems likely to be true. He came here with expectations to be one-and-done and he is pursuing that dream. He can keep helping the program by succeeding in the NBA. Good luck, Liam.

hope he kills it in the workouts and when he's invited to the combine. I think the lottery projection from Givony seems to be a bit outdated after what he put on film the past month and half.
